Don’t laugh, I’m seriously considering the prius. 50mpg and they’ve got a TON of room inside (relatively speaking of course). I can see tossing in a 15-20gal tank for wfp, a 17’ lg, and misc other stuff. A set of stacks might fit in there as well.
I was completely freaked out at how roomy those suckers are inside. I just don’t like the image of the average prius driver. Might have to stick a bolt face logo or an nra sticker on there to get the taste out of my mouth.
Nah it’s good, I ran into some retiree window guy running a Prius to do small storefront. I guess it worked for him. Good milage. No ladders though or much gear… A six foot bed pickem up truck is barely enough for my gear and ladders… If you got multiple crews going I could see how a Prius would be good for the smaller routes though… Definitely…
I have a friend who drives a red Honda Fit with a 28’, 20’, a big step, multi-ladder inside, and her gutter gear in a rocket-box on the other side on her thule rack. It looks all crazy. I had a red subaru impreza at the time with a 3fly-28 on it with my 4’ step inside. When we did jobs together, we were like the “little red riding HOOD” lol. Bangin’ out jobs!
Do you own a legitimate window cleaning business, or are you working for one? Are you a “Beavis” on your worksite? There’s a big difference when you’re starting out, particularly when coming from very humble beginnings. There are plenty of people with master’s degrees working at restaurants in this town. I feel very fortunate to have found my calling.
I will say this. My big clients ($800+ jobs) generally have very nice homes, but drive 1995-2005 subarus as their primary vehicle. My biggest account is $1000+ at $5/pane, and she’s an M.D. Drives a 1998 Honda Civic. Her 2nd car is a 1981 ford truck for the farm on a 7 acre lot. Some have toy-cars, but most don’t. MY image is what’s most important. They know it’s my work-truck… Clean haircut, collared blue and white golf shirt, quick-dry synthetic khaki trousers and a smile. The truck disappears. Trust me. I’ll put it this way… The Jones’ next door in their track homes are broke because they buy ridiculous stuff they can’t afford. That’s not my clientele base. The founder of Ikea drives a 1993 Volvo 240. I’ll get that Tundra TRD Pro when I can pay cash for it. Maybe by winter. I’ll be pushing snow with it.
Holy carp, did you read this article? Dirty windows? House hunters may shy away That’s a freakin prius with a ladder rack! I didn’t even notice when I read the article. It just looks good all wrapped like that.
I was up in your neck of the woods yesterday. I wasn’t doing windows though. I have a friend who owns a HVAC company. He’s training me so I can help out in winter.
Also, I like your choice in dream work truck. I want to get a TRD Pro too!

How did the car handle the hills/mountains with all that stuff on it I thought about doing something like that but wonder if car would crap out on hills during traffic.
Nah man I’m as illegitimate as they get. I run people’s money ALL the time and I’m getting pretty good at it. And yup, I’m a Bevis around here but on the job I’m On point… I let loose here though. Get used to it… I might even bust your balls a little… But defiantly take my advise and save up for a new truck. You waste all that time with a clean cut and show up in a clunker? Don’t get me wrong I started humble too, most of us have, with an 89 Toyota but I’m running a 14 Toyota now because I know the nicer the truck the more people think you’re doing well. Finance it when you can afford it. You don’t need to save 25 g’s to pay cash. That time might never come… Take it from a seasoned pro, it’s all in presentation…
I saw the same truck today (pool guy) in some exclusive gated neighborhood . Super clean , it was mustard yellow. As long it’s clean and neat , clients don’t care what you drive . Just do your own thing and don’t worry

New trucks are much nicer… I’m tellin ya… I know, I ran older trucks for a long time. I still have an old truck for use on my farm… Work towards a new one you won’t be disappointed…
I’m working on it. I started on my own July of last year, so discounting winter, maybe 8 months of work. A lot of it is still sub work, but I’m insured and get the job done well. Like I said in my previous posts, I’ll be looking into a nicer truck by season’s end. I’m pretty shameless about my truck, and my clients like me. 100% return rate from last year’s clients without making a call. Not too worried about the truck. I’m more working on my logo, invoice sheets, website, marketing (truck… I know)… the business stuff. Thank you for your advice, but I’ve said my piece. It’s just getting a bit redundant. Maybe inspire me with a pic of your fleet of brand new trucks.
Nah man I already showed my truck here. I decided to go anonymous on account of the scammers that float around the forums. I keep my shit to myself. I might send you some pics to your email though… But one last piece of advise. Hire a real pro to do your logo. Don’t settle for some gay stock image of a squeegee cutting glass. Get a pro to do the job… You might pay through the nose but in the long run, if your into branding, you WILL be better off…
Having a nice truck, even though I financed $30k, was well worth it. Also I just like trucks so I, obviously, wanted a nice truck.
I have a uniform, a nice truck, an ok website, professionally designed logo, and matching stationary/invoices/petty cash slips for route… Everything matches, down to the color scheme. All of my yard signs are the same two tone colors, done by Tim.
In all seriousness, just because a truck/vehicle runs and gets you to your job and your customers call back doesn’t mean it’s a good vehicle.
Plus, wouldn’t you like having a nice vehicle when your just driving around and people can say “damn business must be good”
