Tight Water filter housings

Does anybody have any suggestions for loosening and keeping loose the filter housings on a pure water filter system? I have an IPC Hydrocart. I have had days where the housings seemed a little tight and tougher to remove than normal, but today they nearly killed me. I fought with them for 20-25 minutes before finally breaking them loose. This was for the 2 pre-filters and the DI filter housings.

Once I got them off I checked the rubber o-rings and there seemed to be plenty of silicone lubricant on them. When I put them back together I put more silicone on them and tried to tighten them a little less; just a little bit beyond hand-tight. After I turned-on the water I had one that was dripping a bit so I had to snug it up a little more.

I’d appreciate any other suggestions.

Thanks,

Tony leverage will be your friend… You have a filter wrench… Get a piece of PVC tube thats a couple feet long and put that over the wrench - should come off pretty easily like that.

Yes, leverage helped. I found a piece of PVC in my garage and used that, but even with that, it was unusually difficult. I had to have my wife come out and stand on one side of the cart to hold it down so I could put everything I had into busting the filter open.

Thanks,
