Maybe sarcasm…
[h=2]What is a trademark or service mark?[/h]A trademark is a brand name. A trademark or service mark includes any word, name, symbol, device, or any combination, used or intended to be used to identify and distinguish the goods/services of one seller or provider from those of others, and to indicate the source of the goods/services. Although federal registration of a mark is not mandatory, it has several advantages, including notice to the public of the registrant’s claim of ownership of the mark, legal presumption of ownership nationwide, and exclusive right to use the mark on or in connection with the goods/services listed in the registration.

now that’s funny
I’m still years out on this, but I see:
two weeks of on the job training(office, field, networking)
proven custom vehicle/trailer setup options (I run three services out of my trailer and it’s awesome)
the best field tested equipment (i’ve spent $10,000+ on wfp gear over the last 5 years to find the right setup)
solid branding(cool business name, shirts, hats, business cards, etc)
8 years of proven processes on bidding, account management, customer acquisition and retention
being part of something much bigger than any startup can be
many years and 1000’s of hours of trolling forums
and the list goes on and on
Plus I can open up my own business in any market in the country and know that my brand is available and safe.
Even if I never franchise, we can expand outside this market and know that we won’t run into someone else with the same name.
I started another window cleaning company in Tennessee a couple years ago and had to start with a new brand from scratch. Not anymore!
Yes, portability is why we trademarked.
And, yes there are at least three other SBS Window Cleaning’s.
Feels good knowing it’s yours. For $500 through legalzoom.com, I encourage everyone to.
