Two more benefits of the squirt bottle

The squirt bottle has been such a great addition to my window cleaning arsenal. Today, i discovered two more benefits:

Cleaning in direct sun. It really helped to douse the top of the window after mopping. This extra saturation made it so much easier to squeegee streak-free and with less residue.

Oxidized/bleeding frames. Usually its such a pain as the mop and solution pick up that white, milky liquid producing a streaking nightmare. Again, rinsing the top of the window washes it all away with nice clean water, which is a breeze for your squeegee to wipe away. Additionally, your detailing rag doesn’t get as nasty, reinfecting the clean window with yucky whiteness at the slightest touch.

Some claim windows cannot cleaned properly with a “squirty” bottle, except in an emergency or at the end of a run of windows.

My question is, if they can be cleaned in an emergency with squirty bottle, why not all the time?

I am an avid proponent of the squirt bottle but not the phrase “squirty” bottle. Perhaps there is a difference between the two…

Squirt bottles are a must imo. In combonation with your bucket its the way to go. We always dunk our mop then as we are working if we need to add more water we apply it to the mop. 9 out of 10 times we dont need our bucket on the job, unless its a large building ect.

I like squirty bottles, but not when the interior is really dirty. The mop just gets too nasty… That’s just me though. I like to bring the bucket in on a bathmat in the mudroom/entrance and clean my sleeve in the bucket.

I carry a Meyers soap bottle (after pouring the soap in my home dish soap bottle) with solution and a little extra soap for some cleans, but it’s not always optimal. I’ve never used one for storefront work. The bucket is never too far the way I roll…
