Vehicle Mounted Systems

I’d like to get a feel for the publics opinion before diving head first into things, so here is a bit of a feeler question.

How important is safety when it comes to mounting equipment into your work vehicles?

I ask this with vehicle mounted water systems in mind.

Hey Shawn,

A couple of thoughts off the top of my head. Obviuosly, an unsecured RO/DI dolly or cart would be a deadly projectile in an accident, especially in a van. I think you would be looking at liability issues if you sold products and or systems that claimed to be “safe” in an accident. No matter how well you design a mounting system, **** happens. Who takes the resposibility if your system wasn’t installed properly? What if it was installed properly, and still failed?

What about insurance? I am not an expert, but I would think that somewhere between your vehicle insurance and your business insurance, your equipment might be covered. So, ignoring the safety factors, and looking at it from a strictly cost point of view, would I want to pay extra equipment costs, to try to protect equipment thats already covered?

Just my .02

Good Luck,

Are you talking about mounting water tanks or other equipment?

Water tanks.

You would have to be crazy to install a system in a vehicle without being sure it was absolutely safe, and you would have to be even crazier to drive it
I drove an E350 with a 250gal tank in the back for about 10 years, the force that it put on the van was incredible when it was 3/4 full
If you are having a tank installed then make sure it’s baffled, Transmissions are expensive:D

I thing the safety factor should be top priority. I would find it a great service for the heavy duty steel bands that are used to mount water tanks included in all sales of water tanks.

Shawn: Does your system include a cage?
