Video Camera for Website Videos

I am thinking about buying a video cam so I can shoot some stuff and post a you tube video on my website.

What is a decent camera that will do this without costing a fortune? Are there some out there that are made for this type of thing?

Thanks, Wayne

Hey Wayne. For video to post on the internet you won’t need anything super great. In most cases you are going to have to compress the video size before you upload it, which is going to make you loose some of the quality of the video. I use the video setting on my digital still camera. Many of them come with a way to record video. I have another digital camera that only allows me to record 1 min videos at a time and it’s a pain. But the quality is not bad. If you don’t want to go that route and want something a little better. Any DV cam will do, you don’t need any fancy HD stuff. You can find DV cams pretty cheap these days. I do own a DV camera and that is a sony.

If you do a search on youtube for njwindoww you will see my 3 videos I have posted. The commercial was made with my sony dv cam. The other two were made with my standard digital still camera movie setting.

get a flip mino… Cheap easy and amazing

+1 on The Flip

I need to get one but saving to get the HD one … I’m always overbuying stuff.
The regular one would do just fine

Thanks guys, I’ll look into one.

Wayne

I’m on my 3rd flip, and I’m still a fan

Did you drop them? Or was it the camera at fault?

I picked up a flip ultra hd today for $200, holds 2 hours of hd video.

Thanks for the suggestions…

Wayne

A “flip” is great…me and my buddies go 4wheeling and do some really crazy stuff and they take a beatn’ and work great.

Do you watch Nitro Circus? I love when he tried to backflip the monster truck!

Hey Wayne Ive been thinking about doing the same thing lately but Im such a cheapo. I couldnt drop the cash. Looking forward to seeing some of your videos!

One died after a hard life of being dropped multiple times.

One lost.

Latest one left in vehicle too many cold winter nights, something messed up now, not working.

Now flip-less again, but still a huge fan

Like Juggernaut mentioned, check any digital point and shoot cameras that you may have. I wanted a decent camera to keep in my back pocket while doing working to take pictures for website and things so I bought just a cheap digital camera that had been returned at a store, it’s a panasonic lumix 5 megapixel, I believe it was around $80. It does pretty decent video too, even 16:9.

Here’s an example.

I’ll be right back; I gotta pee.

Just a heads up:

Woot.com has the flip video camera on sale for 89.00 with 5.00 shipping today. The deal will expire at midnight, or it may sell out before that.

I’ve never used a flip, but according to this thread it’s a pretty cool camera.

Awesome find!!

I just bought that sucker… Perfect timeing as I was going to lay out $200 bucks for one this week anyway…

Hey Kevin, where did you buy yours, do you have a recomendation on where to buy it?

Oh man… The one I got off woot just came yesterday. This thing is pretty cool… I wish I got one sooner. The picture is pretty amazing.
