Video Sales?

Say you were making a video to send to potential clients, mainly residential but a few commercial. What would you want to include in the video? It would have to be something to keep them interested, something that tells how great your services are but not to be “braggy”…

So basically if you had 3-5 minutes of video time in front of potential clients - what would you say?

Put it on your website. If you try to send to all of your customers, it would be too expensive.

That’s exactly what I’m planning. I’m going to totally re-do my website. It will be more of a video site… that’s if I can get it where everything loads quickly and plays smoothly.

I cannot think of anything right now, but I can’t tell you 3-5mins is waaaaaay to long to keep them interested.

Do you know that from experience, or do you just think that? I did a 6 minute video on my site recently and wondered if it was too long.

I really like the video idea though. My thought is that someone who is very interested may browse a site for several minutes, so why wouldn’t they take the time to view a few minute video? Especially if it’s enticing. I don’t know though. I don’t have enough experience to know what works and what doesn’t.

Seth, my comment came from my own perspective as a customer. Not saying is bad, but I believe most people won’t stay for the entire length, UNLESS, as you said, content is really captivating.

Ya, if I was just casually browsing a site I probably wouldn’t last through a few minute video. But if I am seriously researching something, I know I would.

The one I did recently had a special offer at the end, that I mentioned in the beginning, in hopes people would hang onto the end.

I’ve only had 15 hits on the special URL, in the just under a month it’s been out. But I attribute it to the publication that is advertising for me.

All this advertising is an experiment, I am finding out. It’s all new to me.

Sorry Micah, I hope I’m not getting too off track.

I have an intro video on my website and I kept it to a minute because I figured we live in a soundbite society.

I’ve had an ‘intro’ type video (around 1 minute) on my site for over a year now. I get plenty of positive feedback from new customers (mostly women).

I keep wanting to change it but as long as I’m still getting positive comments from new customers, I’m just leaving it as it is.

Hey Tony,That intro video is awesome. If I had a camera I would copy your idea. It let’s the customer get to know you as a person.

Hey Guys,
I edited my original post to add links to the videos I had mentioned before. Now it’s easy.

Micah,

Consider that the average video on YouTube is 2 mins long, and people navigate to that site specifically to watch videos. I would be asking, “Why are they navigating to yours?”

Maybe you’re already doing this, but I would track down a web design guy who actually knows what the user trends are on the internet, and pick his brain for 30 minutes. People’s browsing habits are at times completely unpredictable!

Mike, who owns Clearly Windows, in Bloomington IL has a cool flash show on his site. Check it out - Clearly Windows Bloomington, IL. Commercial / Residential Window Cleaning.
