How much work can you get with that 25 gallons? I’ve been thinking of doing the same thing.

A surprising amount, actually. Usually, if I can do a job in and out in one day solo, I’ll have enough water for the exteriors. I do have a couple 6 gallon jerry cans to supplement my supply for the trickier jobs. I’d say 25 gallons will easily do $300-$400 in exterior work. I recently did a $310 exterior only clean with half a tank (12-13 gallons) in around 2 hours.
There was a bit of a learning curve finding the right balance between water conservation, and sufficient flow. My technique is as follows:
I use polyurethane hose which kinks in my hand quite nicely to shut off the flow quickly. I’ll cover the surface of the glass quickly with water, and then shut off the flow while I give it a good scrub, then turn the flow back on just long enough to give a good rinse. On jobs where the glass is drying more quickly, or there is a lot of dirt, I will give two rinses: one with the brush on the glass, and then a second rinse with the brush off the glass.
I use as large diameter jets as I can get away with to maximize the flow. This allows for a faster, more effective rinse.
I never leave the water running between windows.
edit: I am considering some adjustments to my setup to allow for an even better flow. Currently I run 300’ of 1/4" hose. It’s really overkill for most jobs. I want to tweak things so I can quickly change out that reel for another one that would hold 150’-200’ of 3/8" hose. That would reduce friction in the hose and allow for better flow.
Nice Alex!!
I never thought someone could get that much work out on a 25 gallon tank.
Honestly, me neither. I was pretty nervous about how things would work out when I first set this system up
I did something similar Alex. I had about 120’ of 5/16" OD and 100’ of 5/8" garden hose. I switched to about 200’ of 3/8" air hose and 40’ or so pole hose. Much better flow.
As far as using the pole, I’ve never tried much below 30 degrees. I’ve also heard that running hot water through your system is not good. Did I hear wrong?
Word on the street is hot water is bad for RO membranes and other filters, fine for DI. But I heat after filtering, so no worries.
Makes sense. Are you using an L-5 or something similar?
1000W submersion heater in the tank over night. I really gotta put a video together someday…
Dewitt!
