Water temp for RO/DI

Hey Bill, I have a RHG 5 stage 110v system for pure water. I’m considering using a in line heater by Mytee. The question was raised in another thread if the mytee heater has a particular flow or required pressure. Concerning using the pure water system 1) is it better for the RO/DI system to purify colder or warmer water? 2) How warm would the water flow have to be to be benrficial for dirtier windows or when the tap water runs colder in the spring and fall?

You would put the heater after the DI/RO in most cases. Raising the temp of the water will also affect true tds readings. It’s easier to produce pure water in summertime but colder weather will take longer. Putting heated water through membranes/DI will reduce their life in both cases.

Thats what I kind of figured. I don’t intend to use the system under 45F outside temp, I’m not sure what the tap water temp will be at that point. I’ve been told that the heater woulf raise the temp by around 60F. At any rate the official response from Mytee was that there was no minimum pressure or flow required, but they recommended having the water flow through the heater before turning on any of the elements.

If that’s the case - it sounds good. Most on-demand heaters will only switch on when there is a flow anyway, so expect the first couple of gallons to be fairly cool.

Just check that the unit is fine for pure water. It’s equivalent to pumping a weak chemical for damage to seals, bearings etc. I’ve heard some pressure washers couldn’t take it.

So would say 150 deg water make better kleeing on windows?? Could you tell befor then after or cold to hot ?? Would use of hot water help a awning cleaning or what ??? Thanks, stan

an RO system is built to run at 77 deg. 60 psi and 700 tds this is water standards
