Good Information Micah. Thanks.
Good stuff as usual my friend!
Micah
Great job. Very well said.
A good place to get info on RO/DI is Peter Fogwells blog call www.window-tools.com Most of these window cleaners have been using ro/di sytems for many years. Unlike in the US where we buy expensive commercial membranes and hook them up on the job and demand 50 or 60 psi, they buy less expensive units (200 gal per day) hook them up in the garage with holding tank and run 24 hours. They will fill a 25lit containers from the holding tank and use a backpack for delivery system. This is a very inexpensive way to produce pure water. It would be great for window cleaners in the US who can not afford to buy a RO/DI trolley to know about this option. A 200 gal or even 300 gal a day unit can be purchased for around $200. Don’t get me wrong, I think the RO/DI carts WCR sales are wonderful and get the job done. But what I would like to see is every window cleaner have the chance to use wfp. Your video would be a great way to get this info out.
I don’t know why in the USA you lot rent tanks in low tds areas. You can get the resin & cartridges & have your own system for less than the monthly rental for life. Just buy new DI resin. I’ve already hooked one guy up with this - he’s never paid rental ever since.
because us dumb americans dont like change…
Awesome job, Micah!
I’m totally stoked that you are going to be presenting at the New Orleans Contractor Networking and Education Event for WCR!
Karl, it’s just convenient for me. When the tank is spent I just drop it off and pick up a new one on the way to a job. It’s about 25 dollars a month.
With your setup, what do you do with the spent resin?
Yeah I’m pretty excited too, Thad. It’s going to be great. And to give a presentation at the same event that pressure washing greats like Don Phelps, Carlos Gonzales, Russ Spence, Robert Hinderliter and others are also presenting at is amazing!
I didn’t realise it was that cheap - I was under the impression it was around $100 a month+
I stick spent resin in the trash, it’s harmless once spent.
Way to go with the N’Orleans gig Micah
Yeah, no pressure huh?
Seriously, please don’t suck, OK?
I pay $20.00 a month for a 9x44 tank. The tank I’m using now I got in May of 2008 and it’s still reading 000 a year later. When it runs out I’ll turn it in and pay for a regen which costs $136.00
It’s actually convenient, efficient, and cheap to have just a DI tank around here. I live about 45 miles from Micah. I guess we are blessed with wonderful water in this area.
I always turn my ball valve off between windows so as to not waste any water from my DI tank. That really adds up and makes your tank last a lot longer.
Haha, We’re going to try not too. Actually I feel more comfortable talking to an audience rather then the camera, like the WFP on WCR series. That’s odd too, because you can stop and start over with the videa camera. There’s no pause or rewind in person. I really didn’t know talking to a video camera was going to be so strange. Slowly getting more comfortable with it though.
Having such a cool topic to talk about is really going to make it easy though. Showing the WFP, how it works, and some water filtration stuff will be interesting. And everybody will love to hear how to make money from it. It won’t be like talking about “How they make pencil erasers” or something like that. Should be fun!
You know how they make pencil erasers? Do tell!
