What Size Roof Rig Do You Use?

For job sites that do not have fall protection anchors, we have two MIO’s and three old Fitch parapet clamps. They are for tie back only, and we use them with rigs generally. Unfortunately, we have very few places we can use them. This is because the parapet itself must be certified by an engineer. We’ve had very few parapets pass inspection in our area.

In the case that there are no designated anchor points and the parapets have not been passed structuraly, what do you tieback your rigs to then?

We just don’t do the job. We work with several anchorage contractors to update the building, but if the bulding owner isn’t interested, we simply walk. Yes, we walk from a lot of jobs, lol.

Yeah but i found him

will the information about the parapet certification be on the engineers plans or is this a seperate inspection after construction is complete. I’ve got a tall 4 story building to do but there are no good tie off points on the rooftop.

Only twice have we had architects include parapet certifcations before turning over the building, both at our request. Otherwise, yes, you have to have them tested after the fact by an NDT company, usually.
