Why do postcards and flyers suck?

Is be more worried that they wouldn’t look. Lol. They would turn away if they saw me in a kilt. Lol.

WCRA has proven designs that work in their market, I have tried them with less than desirable results. I am looking for input on designing a piece that is unique to my market and my company, not a piece that others in my market could be, or are using.

Hire a designer and it will be totally custom. It will cost you about 250 to 450 but it will be unique

I have used professional designers for mailers as well, unfortunately most graphic artists have no marketing expertise. I am just looking for some ideas on how to get started on a good marketing piece, and what to tweak to get optimal results.

you said it right there, you need someone with marketing expertise if it isn’t going to be you, first, then throw that at the designer.

There’s too much to the questions you ask since a lot comes from the internal marketing strategy of who you are as a company, who you are appealing to and why and what your UVP is that would determine what to try on your next postcard.

What is up with Jersey? is all I gotta say regarding the response ACWC continually and consistently reaps. and of course those postcards are congruent with ACWC as a company

Being in NJ myself, there are a few reasons…

  • NJ is the most densely populated state in the country.

  • NJ has 3 of the top ten wealthiest counties in the US. 2 of them happen to be in their service area. The third is in mine

  • Although there are literally hundreds, if not thousands of window cleaning companies in the state, there’s only 5-10 companies that have their marketing game together. Thats based on my own research. ACWC tops that list, and although I have a very strong internet presence, I don’t market at all.

  • The companies in New Jersey who DO have their act together (even with my lack of “paper” marketing, I will include myself in this list), just happen to be evenly spread out around the state. To my knowledge, none of the “big” guys are really stepping on each other’s toes.

  • Their postcards look great

Thanks for that insight Chris, well needed

2 of the wealthiest counties in the US, well there you go. Last I heard I’m in the leading foreclosure county in US. Guess I got some headwinds to say the least!

What guesstimate population can you serve in a 20 minute radius?

I’m at ~300k

CWHEELER - consider modifying the post cards you see on WCRA - we do that all the time - change the picture - change colors - wording - coupons - etc. - we have found that very successful for us
