Why do resi clients in the UK want their windows cleaned so often?

they can work in your favor, no need to write them off

try tracking for a month how many “on the job site hours” you work out of the 10-12, that’s a start

if you better understand the specifics of where you are, you will better understand where you want to go and see how to get there

+1. “you cannot manage what you have not measured”

Yes it’s smart from the customer, why do it yourself and trouble yourself on ladders etc when you can get someone to do it for a few dollars.

Unless the WC has a WFP van set up, they are likely to be using ladders on the family car cleaning terraced streets and lower end houses.

Very few if any have full insurance and likely many dont have third party insurance.

A WC falls from ladder seriously injures themselves or dies, invariably the WC has no life assurance or life coverage and they and their families end up relying on the state. You read about it all the time in newspapers and online reports.

The “profession” in the UK is starting to make improvements (such as TP or Fully Insured WFP Van setups) but with improvement comes price rises, which due to many, many years of cheap servicing make it very difficult to get good money like the US/Can model of WC professionalism, because these customers wont pay it.

Yes, we are based in the UK and most of our customers were monthly up to last year. we have been slowing changing everyone to a 8 weekly clean as you can fit more customers into each month making it a lot more profitable. We have found yearly window cleans are only worth if you charge around 4x the standard rate and under current economic issue most people wont pay that. Annual cleans and first cleans are always really really dirty so we always use the wfp system on all first cleans. The main difference between the UK and USA is that we will work through high volume on a regular basis whereas in the united states you guys do more one off work with less volume. Can I ask you, if you use the boars hair brushes? they seem to be very popular over there in the states but its very hard to get them over here

As far as the title of this thread, I remember somewhere that it goes back to the early industrialization days with all the coal burning in the cities, so once a month since there was so much soot, and the once a month mindset stuck ever since

correct me with any refinements please since I find this mindset interesting
