man what a bad day. it started off with me knocking on some resi doors, I knocked on about 20 doors and and only 5 people were home, of those 5 only 1 let me give him a bid and he said maybe sometime in october. So if that wasn’t a bad enough start to my day, then I go do one of my Denny’s that I have to do after 2 pm. I get done doing this pain in the ssa account, go inside to get someone to sign the maintenance form that they have to sign after each service, and in a hurry I left my bucket and tools next to the front door. I come out about 5 minutes later and find that my squeegee, strip washer, and pole are all gone. I asked the hostess if she saw anything and of course she didn’t. The worst part about it is it was a brand new squeegee and brand new cover on my strip washer. I’m surprised that they left my bucket behind but man am I in a bad mood now. I’m glad its friday, time for a couple of cold ones.
If you need some scrubbers or some squeegees I’ll give ya some because MAN that sucks balls bro, sorry to hear that. I’m right down the road. Today I had 2 LARGE accounts cancel on me if that makes you feel any better…but then I picked up like 24 other accounts today in a nice corp. deal
I had an awesome day cleaning carpets.
Made some decent bank too.
AHHH!!! were’s my call yo! carpet cleaning foo!
guess i should have came down to help you after all.
thats great about those accounts, we were working on a deal with 27 stores but it didnt work out.
Briefly matt can you eplain how you got your foot in the door for those accounts…?
they are all buildings owned by the same company are they?
What happened to you isn’t nice, but certainly it could have been worse, much worse.
Instead of somebody taking your stuff, someone could have tripped on your tools and have an accident, just to say something.
If it makes you feel any better we’re waiting a hurricane here and spent the morning boarding my windows and protecting my stuff. Haven’t worked since Tuesday, not a single $ in the whole week. I had jobs but obviously everybody canceled.
Just look for the positive aspects on everything that happens to you, sometimes is hard to find, but if you look deep enough you’ll see it.
BTW, I’m not the most positive guy around, I’m an old-time pessimist, but, rarely, in a good mood today
Ron is a good friend and lives 40 miles north of me.
He…and I…endured 5 of what you brace for now. We know a thing or two about the big blows. 5 in 04.
Good luck to you. Hunker down.
I had rather some idiot trip over my stuff any day. It ain’t like we keep it right where normal folks can hit it. Just where stone cold stupid morons MIGHT fall over it. Thereby reducing the gene pool further. Please tell me where to put several to speed the de-stupiding process along.
But there seems no place safe from the other morons who think stealing is the way to go.
I repeat: Southern Justice.
I can’t go into too much detail because there are some competitors on this site in my area, not talking about Phil or Ron who are both cool cats by the way, but I will give you something…I’m fairly new to the Corp. world side of window cleaning so my explanations may not be entirely agreeable with some other people as I’m still learning too and if people want to chim in please do so as I’m a sponge on this because I want to learn everything!!!
Here’s one scenario I’ll give you. Went to a store that has about 20+ other stores all franchised. Went into the majority of them with little success in getting to Corp and making some decisions. Went into another that the manager and I hit if off great, she loved me. She went straight to Corp for me and got the big ball moving. After that I just had to bid the other stores and talk to the managers, once I told them that Corp wanted me to clean them all of a sudden they were pretty open and nice.
that’s one scenario. I’ll I can say, from a still learning stand point, is just keep plugging away even when there’s days of 100 No’s for Corp. OHHH and I forgot to mention bidding wars ARH I hate that! I usually don’t lower my price too much but I throw in extra extra incentive, that’s all I’m going to share…Don’t cut yourself, but instead be creative and chalk up the value of your creative add on that’s all I’m saying…I got to shut up now…
People, please chim in, I want to hear some stuff!
Way to go man!
Corp is a two edged sword. I’ll explain in person.
Tried to call bro. Try again tomorrow.
I want your advice man, it’s golden to me for sure!
I just hate the bidding war part.
I tried calling you twice after you called me, was in a doctors office doing a bid…How was the carpet cleaning? I’ll call ya tomorrow…lets kick back and enjoy FRIDAY!!!:D:D:D
yeah, actually my stuff was in the grass next to some shrubbery where no one could trip over it. good luck with the storm, hope everything works out ok for all Texans
sux for me 2 the other day someone managed to un tie my bucket of squeegees,2 strip washers, soap and proceed to steel it out of the back of my truck. what a great start to my day i had.
You need a trailer box…shouldn’t cost more than 2-300usd, or less if second hand…it wouldn’t have to be a snazzy model as below, just something that protects your tools.
Loosing tools can throw you of your schedule for the whole day as you waste time buying or collecting new ones.Never mind the cost of replacing.
plus this type of box could have many other uses…
I will say this though, leaving your rubber in the heat will make it suck…I know. If you buy this and leave your stuff in it, it’s going to get hot, but then again it might not because I don’t have one but lately have been experiencing the all mighty power of HEAT and how it effects rubber
