A salesman from Supersites called me. They normally charge $1,999 to build a web site. They will sell me one for $99 until the end of this week.
The catch in my opinion is that there is a $39 monthly maintenance fee and I think the site may be more than what I need. I don’t need builk email delivery.
All that I really want is web presence. I want people to find my company when they search for it. How much do you guys spend for a site.
I could build one myself but I’ve tried that before and it never happened. It’s just too much for me to undertake. It’s nice to have it done for me but he $39per month fee is just another bill to me.
Tony, that looks like a decent site. Did it take long to build? Something like your site is exactly what I need. The catch there is, I am somewhat computer savvy, but is it easy to build?
I built mine through microsoft office small business. No cost, and its pretty easy to do it, believe I’m not a web guru, so if I can do it, most others can to. Free hosting the first year too.
It’s very user friendly. In fact I just helped a friend set one up this weekend. Mine took a couple of days of typing info onto the page templates and uploading pics. It really is easy to do. I am not very computer savvy but from what I gleaned from the guys on this forum I was able to get my site on page 1 of Google in 2 months. And that was during the winter!
They normally charge 2000.00 for a site but you will be paying indefinitely. HELL NO I wouldnt do it. What are they gonna maintain anyway? Bunch of BULLCRAP You can pay a whole lot less by getting a college kid to do one for you and just host somewhere for 10 to 12 bucks a month. “Maintain” it yourself, you can do all the optimzing yourself too.
Make sure these guys are legit too. Google the company and put the word “complaints” after the company name. See what comes up.
Think- 40 a month forever. Thats 480 the first year. 960 2 years. ad infinitum.
Rolling maintenance fees for a website are a very bad idea!
I pay about $100 per annum for more hosting & bandwith than I’ll ever use. I currently host 16 domains & associated websites (Its a rainy day sideline for me,… lots of rain in Ireland!) and a forum and never come close to my limits!
Im with Tony on the Yahoo Sitebuilder program. I’ve been with them for over 5 years now and it is an awesome, EASY program to figure out. I have thought about switching to other programs that were around the same price that were really cool looking (lots of flash) but I decided to stay with yahoo.
Im not that savvy with this kind of stuff but yahoo has everything you need to get you on the web and get hits. I almost switched to sitecube.com but when I spoke with them they said that you can’t add meta tags to the pages. That is totally rediculous! How in the world will anyone find your site if search engines has no way finding you and putting you in the right location? There are alot of these type of companies out there that will scam you into getting a site that looks awesome but has no real value when it comes to customers finding you on the web. Beware!
P.S. I read somewhere that flash isnt very Google friendly, so I stayed away from it. This is just my experience with this whole thing
Very true. Any text within a flash object isn’t readable by Google. Some sites are 100% flash and rely on a single HTML page and its keywords for SEO,… they look great but never rank well.
Flash does look great though! For the best of both worlds, use a flash header/menu and then have the rest of each page HTML. Remember to consider bandwidth with flash too,… not all potential customers have high speed internet connections so make sure to optimise everything!
I use Microsoft’s hosting and web site service too. It has plenty of prebuilt templates that you can pick from. They also provide plenty of e-mail addresses associated with your domain.
