1st Complaint on BBB

Businesses Cooperate in BBB Check of “Satisfaction Guaranteed” Claims - BBB News Center

It sounds bogus to me as well, but you seem pretty sure it’s not. In that case, I don’t think I’d reply. My guess is it’s a marketing tactic so they can get you on the phone and sell you all the BBB benefits and junk. I’d be shocked if they ever actually post anything.

I don’t see what they would possibly gain from posting random complaints against potential (advertising) clients. I’d be livid, too.

EDIT: Just read the above link, good find. Still doesn’t mention a specific consequence, still sounds like just a scare tactic & selling point for them. They get to act like they’re going to clean up the streets to their public audience, which also adds to their whole ‘government agency’ appearance.

We offer a 100% satisfaction guarantee. If the BBB ever challenges me on it, I can back it up.

Less than 2 weeks ago I had a customer nit-pick every window over every scratch and blemish on her glass after we had finished. She actually walked around and marked spots on windows. I told her there would be no charge and we walked away.

I’ve done that a couple times. Can’t cure crazy

Had one like that last year - should have done what you did but I chased every little spot, speck, and scratch. Fired her after that job.

There are things more important than money. My name and reputation are two. I actually feel like I won this. Even though I didn’t get paid, my crew did, so I have the payroll expense to deduct.

The best part of this is that I left the customer happy! She has to be happy, she got her windows cleaned and she didn’t have to pay for it…but she can’t bad mouth us to her friends and neighbors.

On this past Thursday, we were at her neighbor’s house. The neighbor was delighted. She paid the bill and tipped the crew

I think this is just for PR on their part, but it seems they just want you to spell out your policy. I would try to use this to my advantage, put some text on your site to explain your policy, it could be as simple as ‘if you’re not satisfied you don’t pay’!

Then call the local paper and tell them how you’re working with the BBB to defend consumer protection. That’s what they’re doing, turn it around to your advantage.

Has anything new transpired on this issue Andrew.

I would charge double the agreed price and reclean them all.

you want a certain price you get a certain job if you don’t like what you see then maybe you shouldn’t be so cheap pay me what I’m worth and you’ll get the results you desire. I get frustrated when someone wants a discount then when you try to complete the job quickly they nitpick your work its insulting.

I paid them the $500 extortion fee so I’m protected.

Thats why you should never lower your standards for money!

Honestly Steve, we’ve been so busy I haven’t had the time to dwell on it. They said I had till the 20th to reply, but I’ve come to the conclusion not to worry about it. I don’t have to answer to them. If they want to call me and talk to me about it, sure I’ll listen to their sales pitch again, but I’m not going to sweat it
