Im going to buy a 24’ extension ladder next week and I was just wondering if thats good enough for now??? I live in a area where there are people who have basements then the main level then a teen suite so its almost a 3 story house. Its 198.00 with level loks!!! Im going to get a ladder stabilizer too. :):)
That won’t get you up to every window you might encounter. And, it may be difficult to get on some roof tops. A 28’ would be better. A 32’ gets you to pretty much every residential window out there.

darn!! The 32’ is 300.00 with out the level lock…
24 ft. is a good start, worked for me starting off. Those level locks work great. I installed them after market on all of my extensions. The quick release stabilizer is the way to go, don’t get the one you have to screw on. As soon as your able I’d get a 28 ft. to go with.

hit up craigslist and the pawn shop
I use a 24 75% of the time.If you need a bigger ladder and you dont have the money to buy it then just rent it. Thats what I did before I got a 32 and 40

When I need the bigger ladders I rent it. The amount of times I’ve rented a 32ft ladder haven’t cost me half of what buying a new one would have.
Do you have long wcing poles? You can get Unger add a arm 30 ft and a wfp adapter kit. That would keep you off ladders and much safer but still allow you to clean high windows

I have a 24 and a 12 and they are fine for me. I do come up short sometimes but not many. I would not even look to rent. I’m sure you like everyone else knows someone in constuction who has longer ladders. I have a buddy down the street who has from 24 to 40’s laying in his back yard. Evenever I need a longer one I just drive over. I give him a 6 pack and he is happy. Of course if you dont know 1 of the billizon back yard contractors then you have to rent.
24’er for me does almost every 2 story house. It should definitely be a part of your arsenal. So easy to maneuver. You made a good choice.
perfect. a 24 will get to like 95% of all residential windows and roofs. (at lest in my area) and once in a great while you’ll need a 32. the 24 is my “go to” ladder
3 story rears might be difficult to do with a 24 and if that truly is very common around you bigger might be better, but I use a 20 footer a solid 90% of the time. You’ll probably be fine with just the 24. Plus, an aluminum 20/24 is so light and easy to carry around you’ll pay for the separate ladders in time savings fairly quick.
I carry a 6 & 12 ft stepladder, and a 20 & 28 ft extension ladder. I only drag out the bigger ones if I really, really need them.
Also, the standoff/stabilizer is a must.
Look up tool rental places… I just rented a 40ft extension ladder for $28 bucks for the day. Not worth buying one until you REALLY need it constantly, or find it dirt cheap
I know i have asked this before but which stabilizer should i get??? Id like to get one that has a good adjustable width and that i can maybe use it for the roof to hold me back from the gutters…
i use a ladder with “I” frame sides as opposed to box section sides. yes it flexes quite a lot ,but you get used to that and the beauty of it, it is very light. Every now and then i see a ladder laying behind somebodys house and i pick it up to check the weight . Boy some are Monsters ! i came across one old crock that looked like it hadnt been climbed in years,it had turned greenish grey. it also had the thinnest rungs i have ever seen and weighed a ton !
I use Werner 97P (adjustable) arms with a Werner QuickClick.
I went to my local Home Depot and picked me up my 24’ extension with the level lok and a stabilizer!!! And its raining, I wanted to try it out!! Darn it:mad::mad:
Like i said I like getting new tools!:D:D Put the only thing i kind of wanted better was the stabilizer i wanted the 97p but i got the quick connect one…
From what I’ve read here, all you have to do is place a $2 non-skid pad under it and you’re good-to-go.
A $2.00 pad under what??
