Hope to get some advice on bidding on this building. Will be using a boom lift. This is exterior clean only. Was told today that the contractor only wants me to clean 2nd,3rd and 4th floors. He will have his maintenance guy do the 1st floor. This was a total remodel of entire building. I went by today and took these pictures of all 4 sides. Visually looked out all floors from the inside to see the condition of the windows. Some splatter of mortar, etc. But mostly just dirty windows. I would love to have a reach it for this but maybe if I get this bid I will have enough to buy a WFP system. I counted a total of 294 windows which makes it a total of 98 per floor. Those of you who are more experienced on high rise bidding and working please feel free to give me advice. The highest I have cleaned by myself is a 3 story. I used a boom lift that was provided by contractor. Took me 4 days to get outside cleaned. Thanks in advance!!

I would charge $1050 + (cost of renting/delivery of the lift+ 20%). I hate when they only want you to do the high windows and not the growing floor. So I might also tack on $250 to the price for the upper floors and tell them you could clean the ground floor for ONLY $75 more.
(Im not an expert…and Im basing this on how long it would take my guys. (And they ain’t that fast)
On a boom you could really be looking at 3-4 (hard) days. Are you going to have a helper? may be smart to have a saftey guy on the ground.
1 WFP could get that done in…2…maybe 2.5 days. A good chair worker for the 4/3 floors and ladder work the 2nd could get done in two days as well.
Figuring in the cost of the boom may put your number pretty high up there compared to anyone that cleans that from over the roof or using wfp technology.
I don’t see this taking two guys more than one long day or two days at max. If the wind is pretty dead you can start at the top, work your way straight down then drive to the next set and clean going up…so on and so forth…
I would charge no less than $1400. You have construction clean up which is going to clow your team down. Based on your stated experience you will be a bit slow with the lift. I think this price is a mid range price. If you are really hungry than you may want to use it as a learning opportunity. I think if I were to bid it I would be at no less than $2000 plus lift rental. That is me though. Use a simple method of expected man power usage to complete the job and what your average daily manpower production rate needs to be. If you have to make $400 a day per man and this takes 3 man days than its $1,200 plus lift charges. Good luck.

Thanks Jared and everyone else who responded. I was thinking along the lines of around $2900.00 plus lift rental. That would make it roughly $9.50 per pane. (294 panes) On my previous 3 story job. It was a new C.C.U. job. (375 new window panes) Stickers everywhere. Would work on it after my regular job. I was still wet behind the ears.
This one is just basic clean with some scraping, etc. I plan on taking some time off if I get this bid to get it done quickly.

I hope you get it at that price plus lift price. I would bet you get cut in half by another company though. We could be at 1500.00 and roll it out in one day with 2 guys no sweat. Also we would use WFP to cut out the lift rental price.
WFP is the way to go dude, a 50’ pole is key…RO or DI or both what ever your TDS is ! If this is the kind of work your going after and if there is a bunch of building like this and lower then WFP is what you really need !
Personally I could get the top 3 floors in 10 hours but more then likely 8 after a couple cleanings , 3 hours on the long sides ,and 1 1/2 hour on the short sides. Being new with a WFP it will go slower for you !
Dude you really need to consider the WFP because it’s the ADVANCED way to clean most windows but not all ! Close to 3.5 grand can get you set up with everything you need . Spending money makes money, that’s business !
Te-Jas, eh…Pretty hot summer eh…Again, good to have you here , keep asking questions !

P.S.
2900 won’t get you that job if other cleaners are coming in to bid ! What Brian said is a pretty competitive bid but I’d probably come in a little lower then that, and if I really needed the cash I go with what C-Scaper said but I feel that is a bit low, I’m kinda beyond that point…
(no slam City-Man).
Yes sir DangeMiester, pretty hot summer!!! I am pushing for this type of work. But doing this part time has my funds pretty limited. I agree with you 100% though. I will get up and running hopefully soon on the WFP way of doing things. I currently use a back pack and a converted Unger telescopic pole on some of my jobs that have hydrophillic glass. Only use RO water at the moment that I purchase locally. I think I can get this job done in 3 days if I hustle, maybe sooner. Was planning on Friday-Sunday if I get the bid.
Appreciate your encouragement!!
Best,
Alex

I’ve done buildings similar to this one and with my helper I’m almost positive wed knock it out in 2 days. That being said id be in the ball park of 1500-2000, depending on the condition they’re in.
