45'in the Slayer

Has anybody modified their Slayer or Sorbo channels to be 45? Or is it not needed?

I’ve never seen that, but I’ve seen a couple videos of a “dog ear” like technique somewhere on YouTube

You mean like this?

Exactly like that.

I think I’ll give some of the larger squeegees a try, but the regular channels (like my 22" stainless) just feel weak. But I like the 45 so I have to decide if the 24" & 30" are going to just be for straight pulls or if I’m going to try and fan with them. The cost of rubber in these sizes is a consideration factor, but I’m not sure it really matters compared to the time saving.

I use a 22" and 24" mostly for straight pulls (Vader and Ninja) sometimes I’ll fan with them but when you’re using them just for straight pulls the rubber seems to last longer

I thought this thread was about a new 45 inch Slayer.

Once you start fanning with a 24" an you get good at it you will never look back .

Yeah, what got me excited about getting a larger squeegee was Polzn. The wagtailing seemed to take longer than a straight pull, but it was smooth like buttah and he used a 36" ninja to totally kill these windows:

It’s great watching videos like this now that I have been at this a couple of years, I really get what he is doing and why,

Why…

Because it’s much faster .

are you sure

I can’t give you scientific facts , but common sense tells me that two pulls are better than 3 pulls .
I started with a 24 everyone I know uses a 24 does it make it wright no.I’m just comfortable with it I use it on doors I hardly ever use my 18 . If I thought an 18 would be faster I would switch
I’m sure most people use an 18 cause that’s what there comfortable with , an switching to a 24 will be uncomfortable at first , but you will get the hang if it an to me it’s faster

so after spending time perfecting the 45 on my 18 stainless, the standard wide body ain’t working. Do you cut your wide body channels?

I’m going to do it because the 24 doth rock on the pull downs but its the suck trying to use the flat squeegees again.

Ive moved up to the big boys 24+ for route work…No time to play with 18’s…there is way to much glass to clean!

The only time I cut down a channel was for this Joyce Leslie I used to clean it had like 40 box windows an I cut a stainless to size so it would be one pull instead if two. . I have been wanting to cut squeegees down for cut ups havnt done that yet . I also been wanting to try the 45 but don’t really see the need for it is it really better? I don’t have a ton of detailing when I’m done with a window . The only other time i cut down a squeegee is like I mentioned above a new guy I started working for didn’t use 24s he used 22s. So he was like cut your squeegee down I’m not buying 24" rubbers . Now that I think about it what a dick. I’m going to txt him that now .

Hey Mike, which 24 do you use? I was just wondering if you’re buying 12 packs of Soren or a gross of Regular rubber (or Sorbo)?

If Soren, how long do they last if you’re using 24 on route work?

I’m not sure which rubber my Slayers came with but I don’t like it. The Ettore rubber in the SuperChannel works great but the SC is quite thicker and heavier. So so far I’m liking the Slayers but not sure if I want to pull the trigger on Soren or just use the Silverado and use regular rubber. With the regular rubber, I can cut it down to 18".
