50 to 60 ft Water Fed Pole

If you were going to buy a Water Fed Pole in length of 50 to 60 feet, which brand of pole would you buy and why? The pole must be light and rigid so I’m speaking of carbon fiber poles only.

SimPole! Without a doubt. I feel I did a lot of research before I bought mine and I found it was one of the least expensive, lightest, and the poles are guaranteed for life against breakage. They are made by an American company if that means something to you

Yes the Simpole 60 ft is also the one I bought and I love it.

Phil posted that his poles are made in China.

I own three Gardiner poles, Richard, two of which are carbon fiber (SL-56 and SL-X 30.)

Both CF poles are light and rigid, and have performed flawlessly for over 2 1/2 years.

I plan on purchasing a Gardiner Super-Lite Xtreme plus extensions as my next pole.

I gotta go with Larry on this one. I love my Gardiner.

My crews and I have used Tucker, Ionics, Unger Carbon Tech and the SimPole.

My choice is the Unger Carbon Tech for a few reasons.
Pros
1)It is by far the most rigid pole that I personally have seen in use, but there are several others I have not used. i.e. Gardiner
2)I have a total of three sets of them and split them up between our four vans. I use 5 5foot 2" pvc pipe and made a holder that mounts on the van partition wall.
3)We have actually used it with 16 sections or 80’ to catch a few windows we could not get any other way.
4)All the sections are the same and totally interchangeable so from a company growth standpoint this is a huge plus.
Cons
1)The older model had threads that strip out and the pole is then useless. Now they have four rows of threads instead of two. I have asked Steve with ********** to get the three replaced and have not had any luck.
2)They may be a little bit heavier but not by much.

SIMPOLE
Cons
1)Phil has a good concept but all my guys hate using the pole because it is too flexible. We had an extended goose neck to push the pole away from the wall and at 60’ the pole bent so much it would slap the wall.
2)In light to moderate wind it is very difficult to control because it is so flexible.
3)The old plastic screw clamps break easy.
4)I appreciate his use of common parts, at the same time it looks “Shade Tree” like it was thrown together in a garage with black hot glue and gold spray paint.

Pros
1)Warranty that nobody is offering … awesome… If you build a product you need to stand behind it. The carbon fiber and parts are made in China but assembled here in the USA.
2)Light weight. I had to weigh it myself because I could not believe it.
3)Price

I have a 50 ft Simpole. It is a quality pole at a great price. I know Phil can be a bit much at times but he actually has a great product.

The Gardiner and Simpole were the two that I already had in mind. I have a Gardiner SLX 30’ and love it. The Simpole is cheaper and has a lifetime guarantee so it is to be considered too. I’ve decided to go with 60’ whatever brand I end up choosing. I think the 50’ would come up short on some jobs.

Thanks for the input guys.

Those things are as Chinese as Egg Foo Yung

Yeah but show me a pole that isn’t  Besides a Tucker.

The number 1 selling carbon fiber pole in the US is hands down the gardiner pole. You will not be disappointed. I guarantee it.

We use a 72’ Simpole. I have not been disappointed with it. John Lee was a huge help to me in selecting it, and he is truly the nicest guy in window cleaning. As others have stated the Simpole has some flex at height (put Euro threads and a super light brush on there, which helped), but the price point and guarantee were enough to turn me in that direction.

We also own the 30’ SLX which Shawn demoed in NOLA last year. My crew leader has stated that if it were blue eyed and blonde, he would marry it.

Shawn, The 30’ Gardiner SLX I got from you is an awsome pole and still the primary WFP I use for exterior window cleaning. As far as the longer poles go, a lifetime guarantee would make the Gardiner pole a clear winner over the Simpole for me. But the Gardiner pole doesn’t have the lifetime guarantee that is offered with the Simpole. That’s an important thing to consider before purchasing an expensive WFP. Still undecided at this point though.

I’ve actually not read the ‘lifetime guarantee’ but its my understanding that if something happens to your simpole you can BUY ANOTHER ONE AT COST. What kind of guarantee is that? Even if you were given a free one. Who’s lifetime are we talking about here?

Actually it’s a pretty good guarantee since no other pole has one. If I break a Gardiner can I get it replaced at cost? The lifetime as I understand it is for the length of time the original purchaser owns the pole. Similar to lifetime auto parts warranties where once you sell the car the warranty is over.

Who’s cost?

Their cost. No markup.

Gardiner’s cost on the section?

That would be nice. Do they offer that?
