Acrylic Chandelier Cleaning Question

I had a customer call me to do a chandelier cleaning. I went and looked at the chandelier and it is made of acrylic, not the usual glass or crystal. I did a search and did not find anything about cleaning a plastic acrylic type chandelier. What would you recommend to use as a cleaning solution. I was thinking about using GG4 and polishing with a cotton cloth. I just didn’t want to use something that may cloud the plastic. Or if you have any better recommendations I would love to hear them. Thanks.

Pretty much any chandelier cleaning i do i use pure water and mictofiber cloths. Won’t damage any surfaces and its usually just dust you are cleaning anyways. Not worrying about bird poop, greasy finger prints, etc.

I just use Invisible Glass and a huck towel. But for acrylic… ouch. I’ve never done one like that. Be careful and maybe use a really soft microfiber. Plastic gets scratched pretty easy.

Actually, you might try a waxed product. I had an old shop manager who would use turtle wax to clean his safety glasses to fill in some of the small scratches. I never tried it, I just toss my safety glasses when they get scratched. If he wasn’t full of it, you might try something like pledge. It might be worth a try, but I honestly don’t know what the result would be on a chandelier.

Use a micro fiber towel semi damped , dawn should be fine . If you have gg and Ecover is what I use

Hi Cinder,

Check out this link. Brillianize #1 Rated Plastic Cleaner and Plastic Polish I have tried the product. It works great.

Henry

There are chemical companies that make acrylic, CRT and plexi cleaners. Spartan and Betco are two companies’ products I have used. For example, Spartan makes Sign off and Betco makes Clear Image

Thanks for the great replies. I went with rubbing alcohol and water and it turned out great. I used 2:1 water and alcohol.
