I was listening to a talk show and a doctor was talking about alkaline water and how its the best thing for our health, along with eating healthy too.
But i went to his website and was interested in getting that alkaline water, it seems to be that he makes it from a machine that could be similar to what we use for wfp.
The real dirt on water is obviously so much more than we could possibly imagine! I read through the thread referenced by Steven. Great stuff. We are not talking about chemistry class. Rather real life experience. I wish everyone the best with all of your experiments. I wish you the best with your product Bumblebee. My advice if you want to go this route is to keep everything a secret. I can read all about other peoples patents online. I actually get a lot of info that way. Some companies are real careful about their blends/products that they will give out as little info as possible about the key chemical ingredients on the MSDS. Listing such as ‘proprietary’. Or sometimes just putting down the CAS number. But only if they have to by law. Also. I just learned so much from Bluesky. This stuff is very close to me right now. I am working on the February Vision Glass Detailer that discusses a custom product/formula for cleaning with an ‘alkaline’ water, scouring with a nanoparticle, and sealing with a water based trimomethoxy silane. Simultaneously. One step.
So exactly what does determine alkaline water? The pH right? This stands for percentage of hydrogen. If the number is high (above a neutral 7) than the water is alkaline. If low than acid. What the ionizing machines do is alter the ratio of hydroxide and hydronium ions in water. Deionized water is water that has had the minerals removed. It should have a pH of seven. That is if it is just hydrogen and oxygen based molecules. The dissociation dance will balance the two naturally occurring ions in water giving us a neutral seven. Yet we can alter the ratio of these two ions electrically in even demineralized or distilled water and create a very pure water that is alkaline (or acid if you choose). This ends up being an extremely powerful but pure water for cleaning as Bluesky has done with his machine. As he has explained too, it can be done with a battery, some kitchen knives, a couple of plastic water bottles, and a cheap sponge. I found a cool vid on the youtube showing it.
To answer your question another way dhwc, alkaline water is simply water with a high pH. This can be water with a high TDS (total dissolved solids). It can also be demineralized or distilled water with a TDS of 0 that has had the balance of hydronium and hydroxide ions changed with an ionizer.
… Sounds like a scam to me. It may actually make the water alkaline but water doesn’t need to be made alkaline for bodily health, unless perhaps for some specific healing process. A body’s Ph is better when slightly alkaline, but water is pretty neutral. The body needs minerals so don’t go drinking zero tds water. Even drinking rain water for extended periods is not useful to the body because of the lack of minerals.
It depends on your health. Some out if country Cancer centers encourage a higher alkaline ph to help body to combat the cancer cells I believe. I will have to look more into it but was just looking over some stuff for my mom. I am sure it is not dropping TDS to zero though as that would be damaging to the body, actually stripping the needed minerals from you.

wow thanks for the info guys, so drinking the water from ro/di machines is a no no in the long run, because of the zero TDS factor. but cleaning glass with it is ok.
I have several water stations here in my city that I get my pure water from, i just go and fill up my 5 gallon bottles, I called the company that owns those machines and he said that the water goes through the same ro/di process and his TDS readings are anywhere from 0-10, once it gets over 10 he changes out the filters.
now im confused about whether i should just stick to my tap water that tastes like chlorine but has all the minerals, or go over to pure water that has no minerals.
Since we are discussing this from a different point of view my guess would be that water was designed to have minerals from the Earth. We were made from the dust and so we are dirt. There are about 70 trace minerals that are truly essential for the proper functioning of all of the millions of different protein molecules in our bodies. Especially the hormones which are likely the most biologically powerful. Vitamins also ‘plug in’ to these proteins as well helping them to do what they do. Which is everything.
So. If we need minerals, and these occur naturally in water, then we should drink water with minerals that would have a slightly high pH. It would be ‘naturally’ alkaline. It also follows that the body might react negatively in some way to water that has been ‘unnaturally’ made alkaline by changing the hydronium and hydroxide balance. The body would ‘think’ there were minerals present and get ready to assimilate, but find emptiness.
I have another blog too called Molecular Health Media. And did one post on the number of atoms of each of the elements in our body. We have pretty much every one that is listed on the periodic table. What I find truly interesting is that the elements in our body are pretty much in syn/ration with the frequency of their occurrence in the universe. Very Int!
There is a great alkaline water system out of Japan and they call it Kangen water. They even have the water that goes up to above 11 on the ph scale. It’s a pretty amazing system, the cost is a pure water system but it only sits on your kitchen counter.

Man you just struck the very nano core of my fascination with all things. Balance. But this forum is about cleaning windows so I will leave this alone.
Interestingly enough, those stations are my source for purewater when going out to do a wc job. So yes I test the water everytime and sure enough it is always between 5-10. Ive been waiting for it to get above 10 so that I could call him and let him know that im constantly measuring his water, lol.
Henry, thanks. I agree it is super amazing! The older I get the more intrigued I am of the beauty of science and how we are made. I very much appreciate you sharing, and I’ll check out the blog

The thing is that cancer cells don’t grow in an alkaline environment. Drinking a high pH water is just one of the natural treatments used to cure it. High pH water is also used for cleaning.
When waters PH is moved from 7 (up or down) will make it aggressive. Water is always trying to stay at neutral. if the PH is low or high it will pull what ever it need from what ever it comes in contact with to get back to neutral. I know drinking Low tds water can cause cell distruction. So what would drinking acidic water do to the human body?
When I said high pH I am speaking of pH above 7. More like 8 or 9. I had to go back to my days of nursing physiology class to remember this stuff. There is a decent article here www.qurewater.com In a nutshell we tend to eat diets high in acidic foods and drinks. Cancer thrives in an acidic environment so it grows well in the average American. Alkaline water helps to change the bodies pH back to where it should be.
