Happy 2023!
In early 2010, the same day I started my business, I thought to myself that there must be some sort of online forum or group that I could join to learn about the window cleaning industry, and also shoot the bull with like minded individuals.
That Google search led me here! I dove deep into all the content that was available, and within a year or so I became an admin here.
I’ll tell you, modding a forum like this was fun, and I actually met a rather large number of people that I consider real-life close friends here. It even came to the point where my friend Matt Adwell called my wedding “The Small Convention” because there were so many window cleaners and power washers in attendance lol. This place was an absolute game changer in my business and life, and I directly attribute the info that is shared here to the success of my company, and probably the success of my future business endeavors.
It wasn’t all cookies and cream though. Trolls galore, spammers, scammers, a small handful of death threats, and more reported posts (due to difference in opinion) than I could shake a stick at. Even though these factors were annoying at best, it was worth it all in the end, even if only for pure entertainment value lol. There was a point where this was a hot steaming dumpster fire of bickering and mudslinging (remember the Winter War Room?), but over the years it matured and developed into a nice, calm place to chat and learn.
All good things must come to an end though. After a decade as the mod here, I am embarking on a new chapter in my life and making a slow and steady exit from the window cleaning industry over the next year or so. With that, I will be relinquishing my administrative duties back to the upper echelon of the WCR brass. I’ll still pop in from time to time, but my focus moving forward will be on this next phase in my life.
I just wanted to thank @Chris , @Alex and the rest of the WCR crew for giving me this opportunity, helping me start my business even though we were direct competitors, and just being all around great people and good friends. I’m not going to list all of the members here that have made a difference in my business and life, but y’all know who you are!
