… problem is with many ideas that are posted on forums is people dont take notice… well i took notice of what james said after i bumped into a bottle of ecover Washing up liquid at the local drug store and made some pretty startling discoveries … and thought the only way to deliver this is by making a vid.
as always
been experimenting with this last few days … ECOVER washing up liquid is fantastic stuff !! diluted with pure water… in direct sunlight and all glass its fantastic check this video out to see what i mean
Is this the Ecover window cleaner or the Ecover washing up liquid? I know you say it was washing up liquid - just wondered if you were that impressed with the washing up liquid, what the window cleaner would be like?
its ECOVER washing up liquid… i Tell ya its the bees knees for anyone having problems with streaks and smears… normal washing up liquid dawn joy … gg4 gg3 leave residue if you let it dry on the glass . this stuff breaks its self down like its Pure water… amazing
dont do much wfp Karlos… Germans prefer a hands on trad…
i know what your saying… but would be better to have 2 separate canisters one with minimal Ecover. and the other to rinse of … if it works ??? dont know never tried . but i see where your going
the main 2 points about this stuff are IMO . much less streaks and smears by window cleaning period… if you encounter these problems… and its most probably much than healthier than the GG4 and other washing up liquids… have you smelt that stuff its got some sort of chemical in there thats really strong… this stuff is made from plants and you can see by the way it breaks it self down that its something quite positive for window cleaners… you have to see that
From what I can tell, the window cleaning one is in a spray bottle and used similar to windex. i don’t know how we’d impliment it into our work flow. Plus Amazon.com gives it some real mixed reviews.
the thread title was Washing up liquid Ecover… and NOT Ecover window cleaner !! who needs that spray stuff ? me not
James from scotland got the ball rolling and he mentioned quite a lot about what ecover brings to the window cleaner…the only thing is he puts quite a bit of Vinegar in his solution… Me personally i dont need the vinegar…Due to the damage it can possibly cause … to floors frames glass and your hands… its common knowledge that in older days many housewives put vinegar in there window cleaning solution to help with the cleaning… if you live in a hard water area this makes sense … in soft water areas its not needed
in the video you can see even with tap water that normal washing up liquid ie . Fairy… dawn and all the rest are man made and leave a hell of a lot of residue when it has dried…
" i am not saying it is like baby hair shampoo " but i bet its healthier than that Gg4 stuff… that has got some strong stufff in there when i smell it
A bottle of Ecover costs a couple of $´s… its made out of plants… in the video you saw how it breaks itself down. and leaves barely any visible residue…
so you dont have to be a rocket scientist to understand what the main 2 points of this stuff can bring…
if your the type who works fast and has problems with squeegee burn and streaks. this stuff was made for you… i have been using this the last few days and it really does leave the glass with less smears and streaks than all the other stuff out there… i used with soft rubber on Monday in a apartment with the heaters on and sun shiningL 10 o´clock… it worked much better than the GG4 and let alone normal Washing up liquid
Get a 1 L plastic bottle . fill right up with pure water… take the Ecover put in one quick squirt… add 1/2 drops ( yes one single drop works wonders ) of clear salad vinegar if you like… its less thick and consistent like other washing up liquids… when i clean windows i always have my squirt bottle of solution and a seperate sprayer to sprays down the glass with pure water or to add more water when needed… if you find that there is too much suds the make your quick squirt of Ecover in your bottle an even quicker squirt :-). very minimal really !
the squeegee performs just like any other solution… and Smears and streaks are greatly reduced even though the suds are just like that of GG4
i love it ! thanks James scotland for bringing this to my attention
dont forget Jonny that its a washing up liquid and too much suds can slow you down and increase friction which means more work…this washing up liquid way ahead of all those other types… and i bet its it much healthier too
Mark i do all Private homes and always ( 99 % ) Inside and out…
Ime not a WFP guy . i use Wfp now and then… James from scotland mentioned to me yesterday that he uses a small amount in his wfp ALSO and his windows come up SPOTLESS End quote
So you don’t use a bucket then? Sounds like you just have you scrubber, squeegee, squirt bottle and sprayer bottle. Also sound like you ony use pure water.
Since most window cleaners that post on WCR use a bucket (at least for cleaning up the washer and getting it extra wet for excessively dirty windows and frames), usually with 2-3 gallons of water + cleaning detergent, how would you recommend us giving this a go without totaly switching to your method?
Mark i i always use a bucket !.. i leave the bucket at point A to clean 2-4 windows and then come back to the bucket or then move with the bucket to point B … i have 4 - 5 micro fiber cloths wrung out in my pouch… i have 2 pouches cloths at the back and the left pouch for carrying the bottle of solution and the dirty cloths.
i never put liquid in my bucket ! i always clean with just clean water to start off with then after washing my aplicator sleeve out this releases solution in the water…i only put liquid in if ime doing a store front that just poling … and very rarely do pole work… its all hands on here or with a ladder.
there is nothing worse than cleaning frames with soapy microfiber cloths. plus it can really knacker your hands up after you have wrung out 4oo cloths in one day… here in Germany its all about quality frame cleaning… the glass cleaning part is the easy bit of the job…
here it is all measured in Liters … just use the Ecover like you would any other solution. if you find its to soapy just reduced the amount.
