I know well enough by now that ammonia has been phased out by most chemical companies with their continued efforts to develop green products; however, I have a few store fronts that are all french panes, and every time I use an ammonia-free cleaner I fail, but with ammonia I succeed.
It seems that from the edge I pull there is less residue left over and almost no end mistakes when I use ammonia.
I do not want to continue using it and would like suggestions about methods or products.
It is serious input…My other remarks are just to run interference to make a lucid escape from those out to lynch me, or tar and feather me and run me out on a rail …LOL !
Scrub, wipe the edges with a sponge or aqua-dry, then squeegee ! TSP will cut the dirt…cause plenty of slip…and sparkle the glass ! 2 table spoon to 2 gallons of water and it isn’t poisonous like ammonia !
Sprayaway smells like rancid bubblegum, one spray and it seeps into my pores for days and stinks my truck up for weeks. Last year my GF thought I was cheating on her because there were a few Sprayaway soaked rags in my trunk and it… and I quote… “Smells like a cheerleader in here”
I prefer Zep… same basic crap, less invasive odor.
Dange, the environmental impact of TSP is the reason most cleaners are now phosphate (specifically trisodium phosphate) free. Because it was cheap and worked well as a degreaser it was in just about every cleaner out there. The problem is that it couldn’t be removed at the treatment plants so it made its way into the watershed and caused serious issues w/ the plant life. Not to mention that the manufacturers say it’s not to be used on glass.
Please don’t kill the messenger.
I do agree about the danger of ammonia. Nasty dangerous stuff.
EMM, I would recommend SprayWay also. It’s worked exceptionally well for us on the insides of french panes. On the outs if it’s not extremely cold we use a wfp system.
Plant life will continue even if all window cleaners used it.
Manufacturers care mainly about their liability in all matters.
If Dangerous has used it for a long time, he knows if there is a problem with it.
The phosphates did a good job of cleaning…better than the substitutes.
Tsp is still sold so it can be used although the price has been jacked up.
The authorities don’t like the effect of oil on the environment either.
That is why we are set up to depend on our enemies for our supplies.
How is that going to work for us?
I don’t get the connection. I think we need a lot of bombs in order to defend ourselves. Have you noticed
or discovered any hostilities in the world at all that are not our fault, maybe one or two?
Besides, we need some kind of income after giving our jobs away to the rest of the world so as to prove how
benevolent we are…
