I rescreen full time and I have found that it is a waist of time trying to reuse Andersen metal spline. Even if you can get it to fit snug you have no control of the tension of the screen. If you must reuse it take a thin screwdriver or knife and pry the spline apart a bit then you should get it to stay in place. Better yet do what I do and replace it with 15/64 or .225 or .235 ribbed hollow rubber spline. This will let you be able to control the screen much better. It took some practice but now my Andersen screens come out smooth as glass with aluminum or fiberglass screen, they look as good as a new one right from Andersen.
