Any storefront guys go paperless on invoicing?

So I got my Quickbooks on Line set up for the folks that want to pay online and I find out that more than half want “Old Fashioned” paper receipts. Anybody else offer a paperless option? I really don’t want to do both.

I spoke with the people at Starbucks where everybody seems to be sporting a smart phone to pay for EVERYTHING and learned something. More than half their customers prefer to pay the old fashion way. CASH

PS
My daughter thinks I’ll loose customers if I go 100% paperless.

I had some loan stores that needed paper. They couldn’t get email either. Usually it was the chain stores that needed paper because they had to submit it to an accountant it regional person.

But even if you do half paperless that’s half the filing you have to do.

I’ve only had one customer mention not being on paper. They seem to just expect it.

I have both, the larger accounts are paperless. The smaller ones like the invoice. Not sure if that really answered ur question.

Same here, the bigger payouts like paperless, and smaller prefer paper.

All but one is paperless now.

Do we have to file our copy of the paper invoice. It’s recorded in quickbooks

Both of my operations are all on paper. I like hard copies that I can feel with my bare hands. It’s like rubbing cash through my fingers. 100% paper here. And loving it.

I keep hard copies of everything, including customer base etc…

…You never know.

Also, I feel like more of an old fashioned business man this way. It helps me to understand my business inside and out. I heard or read somewhere, I forget, but it was said people that operate on paper have a better “feel” for their business. I can’t say if it’s true or not but I know I definitely understand my business inside and out.

I don’t know about all that, but I know I like having access to all the vital information no matter what.

I love automation! If I can click and go I’m happy!

As a solo op I’m more interested in a full schedule than a full Rolodex and cloud based technology. If I were managing three or more men then give me the cloud. Until then, I’ve said it before, I really don’t see the need for it. It’s overkill for a solo guy. Jmo

Agreed!

Automation has helped with this too.

But I get what your saying.

The paperless mobile QB app seems so much easier to keep track of accounts receivable. Notifications would get sent to my smart phone and one click sends them a reminder that they’re over due.

PS
One click on their end and it’s in my bank account

I hate it. I loose customers over it. I hate the office work.

You’ll never get it to just paperless. If you do that would be awesome , but very hard

Most all of my clients are ok with electronic invoices, but about 2% of them require an invoice.

We’re mixed. We love doing paperless, but my wife still prints her own copy of every transaction for ‘the record’
