Has anyone used them and what’s their agenda? I received an invite today asking for my company info so they could “send customers my way - :)” I went to try and read their terms and it was 20 pages long. Figured it would be quicker to ask here.
My websites will be dominating my area shortly and I’m wondering if this or any other similiar service would be needed?
They’re fine, it’s just like service magic but with no fee to start. If a lead comes in through their site for a service you’re listed under, they connect you with the client for either $4 up front, or a 12% commission on whatever you do.
I’ve been with them for a couple of months… 2 leads, took one; never heard anything from the client though.
I get one or two leads a week from them. Land some, lose some. Never ask for a percentage, just a few credits per lead. You can buy a package of credits or pay per individual lead. Cheap way to get leads without doing a thing. I get pressure washing and window cleaning leads.
me too, this week i got one nice window cleaning job and a house wash that i upsold to window cleaning and gutter cleaning. roi is off the charts compared to home advisor, and thumbtack isn’t out creating bogus websites for window cleaning and gutter cleaning in every town in america.
I absolutely love thumbtack. Just started a couple weeks ago and have landed more work than I have with Home Advisor. At a fraction of the cost you cant go wrong. Plus you have the option of not taking the lead if you dont want it. Its great
I have been a Gold member for a while. Never liked any of the leads given so I did not try it until recently. They gave me 20 free credits so I gave it a try. Had one customer all scheduled for gutter cleaning and then she said she would be out of town on the scheduled day and that she would get back to me. We will see. I gave a few other bids but, no jobs. I personally don’t like the questions that they have the customers answer in order to bid the job. So very vague. I always need to ask more questions and have found that some do not like answering the questions. This is the low ball customer type I don’t want.
Most of the leads I get are in areas I do not want to service. At this point I would give Thumbtack a grade of D verses Yelp which I would give an A. Of coarse I do not pay for Yelp and maybe that is the Key.
Here’s the review we just got from today’s thumbtack job.
“The entire team (3 window washers) were professional and very thorough / detailed … Well supervised by the team leader … Conducted their own walk through inspection to ensure a complete job … Very pleased and will get on a regular window cleaning schedule with them … A+++ rating” …
I always put “onsite estimate required”, and then put my phone number on the notes. I agree, most have been not my type do customer I go after, but there has been some good ones.

I usually send a nice message introducing myself and I refer them to my website and how to get to responsibid and let it do its magic
