Anyway to get paint overspray off of tint?

Hey guys,

I was doing a job yesterday. On the outer glass, it is obviously tinted. The windows are big and older. I noticed some white over spray on them. Obviously I know not to scrape them. This was the first time I cleaned them and is going to be an every two week account for me.

Is there anything I can do?

You mean the outer-facing surface has a tint applied on that surface?

Lotsa tinted commercial glass can be safely scraped – why can yours?

I was always told you cant scrape tint.

I wouldn’t give up on scraping just yet cause I don’t think they would have applied an after market tint to the exterior.

You can’t scrape tint, you can’t steel wool it and probably shouldn’t put chemicals on it, least I never have. I hate that tint stuff.

Is this factory tinted glass, or is there film applied to the exterior window? Film applied to the exterior of buildings is rare, but not unheard of. Exterior film is most often thicker and applied for security reasons more so than solar protection.

You should be able to look around the edges of each pane and see a very small gap if its exterior film. (If it was installed correctly). If not, than maybe its factory tint and you should be able to scape.

Tint or film?

I have seen tint out side before It looks real bad real quick! I also scrape tint from time to time with good results.
