AquaTap - anybody use one of these yet?

I used my brand new AquaTap yesterday, and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed. I found that the mechanism was a little too loose. I found that the water flow would turn off at unexpected moments from small movements of the pole, so I would have to keep turning it back on, or pulling the brush off the glass to see if the jets were still running. 30 minutes of that proved to be quite frustrating. Towards the end I was having to compensate by giving the pole a slight twist at the end of each horizontal stroke, just to ensure that the water flow stayed on.
Has anyone else had the same problem? Any ideas on how to fix it? Can the AquaTap be adjusted so that it is less sensitive, and requires more torque to open or close?
I think it is a brilliant idea, if there would be a way to tweak it, it would be awesome.
Any input, Alex???

Hey there… I just pinged the inventor. He should respond here in a bit.

I just used mine for the first time yesterday also and had the same issue. I thought it loosened up during use so i brought it into the office to see if I could work on it later today. In the video for the aqua tap that Alex made I believe he said you could remove pin and tighten things up.

Although a lot of people get on great with it straight away most people need a few hours to really get used to it.
It is set at the optimum for most people and best to get used to it that way. On assembly they are greased up a little, this wears off and they get a little tighter.
You don’t want it too tight as it will be harder to turn.

@Peter Fogwill

Peter is there a way folks could tighten them if wanted to give it a try?

Oh and thanks for chiming in!

Yes they could open it up take the o rings out and give them a clean, also cleaning the slot that they will go back into. I would only do that though if its used for a day and it still feels too loose on the second day, as it will tighten slightly on its own.

From my first play around around with the aquatap I only had an issue when cleaning ground level glass and holding the pole sideways. I think naturally twisting the pole on the glass while cleaning may just be a (I want to say bad habit) that one has to unlearn. Once the water is turned on/off, keeping a methodical approach to your strokes is the key to success with this tool.

Yes Mark is right and that’s where the couple of hours comes in for most. Some people just adapt without even thinking about it sort of second nature. When I first thought I had a potential problem I went out to the testers and they looked at me when questioned as if I had horns coming out my head. They couldn’t understand what I was asking when I asked if they had certain problems. They had just adapted their technique to fit in with the way the AquaTap needed to be used, and they done that without even thinking about it. I have had people mentioning the exact thing but after a bit of practice any problems just seem to disappear.

To be honest, when I first saw this aquatap I knew this would be an issue… I don’t know about you, but sometimes I’m purposefully adding more pressure to one side of the brush by turning the pole a bit.

We have enough issues with spinning these things as it is :stuck_out_tongue:

Same here. Always turning the pole to get corners, reaching over things, etc. Especially is the case when use the Resi neck with swivel which I do half the time. However, I’m looking forward to hearing more reviews and seeing some videos.

Peter thank you for the information. In using mine by the end of the day I had it down, but I still thought it was loose only to find out it was tighter than when I started. I Love the product and will develop better habits the more I use it.
Thank You
Jason

Thanks for all the input Chris, Peter and others. That’s why I love this forum, you guys are always so quick to respond. I will keep trying with the AquaTap, maybe I will have the same positive experience as Jason.

we’ve been using one of these on and off for a month or so. it seems too loose to me too. especially on side-to-side strokes with the brush, that horizontal movement will turn the brush and shut off flow. i also notice that the problem is more pronounced with heavier brushes like the unger radius.

i like the concept, but i’m going to try to take it apart and tighten up the action a bit. it needs to be about 30% tighter and then i think it would be perfect. anybody else been messing with these?

No offense Peter, but here’s my take: I bought the aquadapter after researching both products for days. I too twist the pole to add scrubbing pressure at different points, etc. I read reviews from people all over the world, users for anywhere from a week to a year before making my decision, and they all said the twisting action was a bit too quirky to get used to. I got REALLY good with the aquadapter in about ten minutes, and I absolutely love it. My advice is to find an aquadapter and buy it.

Please note: I know WCR is no longer selling them, and I’m not trying to take away business from anyone. I just really believe that the Aquatap needs a lot more refinement before it can match/outperform the aquadapter.

… I’ve had mine for 6 months or so and really like it. Sometimes is shuts off when using
horizontally or when I tilt the brush for extra scrubbing. I have not found this to be a problem
because I don’t need to be running water on the glass 100% of the time when scrubbing.
