Are QuikTrip stores worth the hassle?

I’ve been asked to bid a chain of convenience stores called QT (short for QuikTrip). They look like they’d be a lot of work with all the displays and blinds in front of the windows. Could they possibly be worth all the trouble? I don’t want to underbid and shoot myself in the foot. Any advice gentlemen?

A friend of mine had all of them in Wichita and he did pretty decent with it. They are worth it.

I’m estimating 1-1.5 man hours in order to clean around all their product displays. Does that seem reasonable?

I also know the guy in Wichita with them. One thing that I wouldn’t like is that they require the work to be done after 7 PM. In the winter, that can be pretty rough in Kansas.

There are almost 30 QT stores here in Tucson, and the company that does them (NOT MY COMPANY) cleans them for $1 per pane outside only each week, and $1.50 per pane once a month. Way, way, way too cheap for me to be interested in doing them, even though many of the QT managers have asked me to give them a bid because I frequent their stores everyday. I do mostly residential because of so many storefront stores being so low in price, but the ones I have all pay between 3 and 6 dollars per pane for outside only and double that for In & Out. By the way I’ve seen the windows being cleaned here at the QT’s at all times of day, so the night cleaning thing may not be required everywhere.

First off IMPO, if your already considering them a hassle, there probably not worth doing.
There’s 20 of them in Georgia and there probably the most frequented service station around, definitely the cleanliest and serve a really mean cup of Joe.

One of the manager’s I spoke with this morning (calling on your behalf) said, the wnd clnrs come 1 x per week and do I/O’s.
They work around all the displays and stamp their invoice when there finish which is then submitted to Corporate.
One thing to keep in mind concerning large chains is the frequency rate …

Just lock 'em into a yearly committed contract, so some ‘Bucket Joe’ doesn’t come and steal 'em away from you.

Just read a report that Quick Trip is among the 100 Best Companies to work for in the U.S. So I am sure the company is doing pretty good. I would go for it if they can commit to a yearly contract or something like that. Even though they may be a net30 type of company. Sure is good knowing you have that coming in. I would estimate starting at an hour I/O then try to shave that to 45 min as you get comfortable with the stores.
