I went to pick up my battery from autozone after taking advantage of their free charging service. They told me that someone had already picked up my battery. I asked the assistant GM to replace my battery, but he said he didn’t have the authority to do that and I would have to talk to the GM tomorrow. So if they don’t take responsibility it’s basically like they stole my battery.
Phil, you were a police officer, can I call the police if they don’t return my battery or make acceptable concessions?
Contacting the police is an option depending on your local laws. First I would ask them how they know it was picked up. Was it signed for, what was the description of the person who picked it up & at what was the time and date? Did they verify the person’s name through ID? What does your receipt say about picking up the battery. This is your contract with them and it is important that they followed their procedures and store policies. I would also look around the store for video surveillance camera’s. Most stores have them and if they do I would request a copy of the date and time. You need to do that asap because most stores are on a loop and they might tape over the data you need depending on the length of loop they have set up.
Not sure it would be a theft by definition. Maybe an employee gave the battery to another customer by mistake. To constitute theft you have to prove intent. I would think its a civil case. Hopefully the GM will make it right in an effort to keep a customer. If needed you can make a police report if the GM doesnt do the right thing. Good luck.
I will take care of it I worked at autozone part time for 4 years they should have taken care of it while you were there but if the general manager doesn’t take care of it tell them you want his district managers number and if they don’t take care of it give me a call and I’ll pull some strings 8126148329
Had that happen to me once at O’Reilleys. They couldn’t find mine and were ready to give me a new one actually. They ended up finding it.
They gave it away so they need to be accountable regardless.
Good luck.
Haha, well at first he wanted to give me a used car battery because they don’t have marine batteries, but I said no, my equipment requires a deep cycle marine battery. He said let me call my district manager, he went to the back and “found” a new marine battery.
