Did a soft wash on a house with baby blue siding last week. Customer ask me to stop and look at it becuase she didnt think it looked clean.
Front of the house and the north facing side look fine.
The back and south end look like they have shadows all over the place.
Hope you can see what Im saying in the pictures.
Told her Id have to come back and hit it again and see what happens.
Any of you fellow soft washers ever see this before?
That is too much pressure on oxidized siding. Sun exposure is the number 1 cause of oxidation, when the siding gets ‘powdery’. You see how the wand marks are evident, you stripped off the powdery stuff with a little too much pressure.
Now you need to get rid of the rest, there are a few ways, brush the entire wall with house wash mix or try downstreaming some f-13 on it. Brushing is time consuming but probably the best method.
Never turn back the washers pressure. Are you downstreaning or xjet ting? If you are downstreaning you should only need your rinse high tip for peaks and the gutter line. Everything else on normal grade can be done with the rinse low nozzle. For applying solution you should be able to reach the windows with your soap low tip and the rest of the house with soap high. Never try to blast dirt off with your rinse high tip.
Definitely brush it out. I had the same issue with a light blue Cape Cod style house last year. It’s a drag but that’s really the best way to get it all even.
Like Clark said you can lower the pressure by using a wider orofice tip, don’t mess around with the unloader on the washer. Taking a few steps back works too.
best luck eric … you got bit by the oxidation bug … only problem is 75% of the homes around the are you will do will have this … its better you learn how to do this correctly so your not wasting you valuable time and money . if you have any questions call me
I may have a trick for ya to remove oxidation from vinyl siding without using a brush. If you use a brush, you’ll have to brush every square inch of the oxidized vinyl siding.
