Everybody has been endorsing belt-driven pressure washers.
If it’s not belt-drive, what is the alternative called?
Why is belt drive so important?

The other type is called direct drive. I am not sure why belt drive is preferred, it may have something to do with speed and torque increase to the pump depending on the ratios of the pulley diameters.
Direct drive means the engine directly drives the pump (direct drive) as a result, when the engine is running-- it gets hot. Since a hot engine is bolted right onto a pump in a direct drive set up-- the engine transfers this heat to the pump itself and heat is what kills pumps.
Belt drives are not connected ditectly to eachother but use a belt instead. This allows the engine heat to dissipate and never reach the pump- thereby allowing it to stay cooler and last longer.
A belt drive unit is generally a little more expensive and a lot more durable than a direct drive unit.
It’s also a heck of a lot heavier, so if you’re not running a fixed setup and have to unload and load it at every job a direct drive is a lot easier on you. For intermittent use a 4 gpm direct drive will last a lonnng time.
Just cap off the built in injector and use a High Draw
how much heavier generally? 25%? 50%?
A " heck of a lot".
It depends on age. If you’re under 40 it’s 25% if you’re over 40 it’s 50 to 75% heavier.
well that was helpful
I’m a total idiot…but you talked to me on the phone Thad…so your fully aware of that. Cap off the injector and use a high draw? Why’s a high draw ?
lol
