Best replacement rubber?

We added window cleaning to our list of services this year. It’s been a slow addition but it’s coming along. What’s the best squeegee rubber to use and how often would you recommend replacing it?

What brand of squeegees did you buy?

The blue ones from Depot, lol. I wanted to test the waters on it before investing in higher end equipment so we went that route. And they’ve worked well for our testing purposes. Now that I think it’s a viable service addition for us, I will surely be upgrading. On that note, would you recommend a particular brand for window cleaning tools overall?

Throw them away and buy professional grade Ettore and Ettore rubbers. I’m not even sure there’s any other brands out there.

The blue ones are ettore so get ettore rubber. The green ones are Unger so you should get ettore rubber.

Change them when they get worn. Look at the ends and when they start to get rounded it’s time to change.

That’s one of the ones I was leaning towards. What are your thoughts on Unger?

I prefer Ettore

Buy the brand rubber for the brand of squeegee.

Unger hard has served me well for years in my ninja.

But Moerman for Moerman, Ettore for Ettore, etc

Rubbers and channel types each have their strengths and weaknesses, and no one can say what is really the “best”.

But Ettore is best.

Have to say that I use Ettore rubber in Moerman channels, works a lot better than Moermans rubber right now

I’ve been partial to the Black Diamond hard rubber since I started using the liquidator channels. Seems to have better glide, and less likely to catch and fold, than the Ettore.

In actuality, I never was able to fan very well with the Ettore rubber, even with the standard ettore channels. I’m sure that was me, and not the tools, lol.

Are they both the same exact size, height?

Same height, however Ettore’s nib (what is that part actually called? At the bottom of the rubber that fits into the channel? The nib?) is slightly thicker than Moermans. Which actually works very well because it stays so snugly in the channel. I highly recommend it.

I also prefer Black Diamond hard for my channels not just the liquidators, for all the same reasons you mentioned above.

Bulb?

I don’t get it… when i used it my squeegee chattered like crazy. Felt similar to squeegeeing tint. It was so awful to the point of being utterly unusable. Switched back to ettore and…ahhhhhhh. So nice.

I still have the whole pack so I’ll give it another shot. Maybe something else was off that day. There’s got to be something behind you guys swearing by it.

 bulb and the flat section is the tongue…

BD Tongue (section from bulb to edge) is shorter than Ettore and also slightly narrower. If the rubber is too steep to the glass you’ get chatter. Try dropping the handle slightly closer to the glass (not much just a few degrees) so that the angle is shallower.
