Big windows

elite If you don’t like the answers, don’t ask any more questions. Every post gets responses you’ll like and a lot you won’t.

As for how I bid stuff, eh. Who cares?

Respect is earned.
JfromtheD probably has more time on the glass than anyone here except BostonMike. I respect and listen to them regardless how the words are written.

Feel free to ignore people who know more than you. I do all the time… And it usually bites me in the butt. I’m just so sharp I might cut myself.

Zacch…wow those 3 words. (Go **** yourself) do not work that well around here or for that matter anywhere!

Sorry for my comments earlier I was off to a bad day and wasn’t being smart with my comments

Yes I would have to say in my every day life I drop F-Bombs all the time it’s just what I’m accustomed to, but it’s not around a lady or a child and every word isnt F out of my mouth that’s just ignorant . I know people who can’t complete a sentence with out an F-bomb.
Does it make someone a bad guy not at all if you think that than your being shallow.

Back to the go F-yourself First off he was being sarcastic then he answered the Ops question. To tell someone that over the Internet is just down right cowardly, an stupid in my eyes . You lose all respect with me by doing so .
You might not want my respect that’s cool. I’m just telling how it is. If you want to he a tuff guy do it In person.

Especially when you tell a good guy like Jfromthed. To go F-himself.

New guys come on here to seek help from others and we don’t get any help. You know what we get? We get bashed on or told to search for it. The reason I first signed up for this site is to learn from others, but the only person that has helped was FastFaner because you guys were too busy telling us that the picture is not a good angle or that its rotation is wrong.

In the future, try to actually help others…

And for my words, I speak the truth, I don’t bullshit.

Signal to noise my friend, signal to noise…

Just put on the mental filter and let the flotsam move by. People are accustomed to what has become the norm here…so much so even the newbies feel they have the right to start with the professional ribbing (Mr. Fanner who called me a “doosh”…yes it was spelled that way).

So what do you do? Scroll past the silliness and onto the meat. I mean when you got your first steak you learned pretty quickly what was chub and what was steak. Apply the same thing here…

Besides…most of them are just trying to raise their post counts for some sort of cyber-cred or something.

I would price those as single’s. Large panes go buy fast with the right gear.

I’m torn on this one.

When I was in studying graphic design I had a teacher once tell me, “Don’t let them talk you down on your price because you’re an “artist” and you like doing it.” A similar train of thought can be applied here. Just because you have the knowledge and tools to do this job quickly doesn’t mean you should discount yourself. You had to invest yourself in those tools and skills. Their other option (which they are painfully aware of probably), bsides another WC’er, is back to paper towels and windex…or a 99c car squeegee if they’re lucky. They are paying a “pro” for a job they don’t want to do…price accordingly. Make it “easy” you will get paid for “easy”…make it “hard” you’ll get paid for “hard”.

I can appreciate having a bad morning and I can respect someone who apologizes for their behavior. You’ve gotten some good advice here so get er done.

Sounds like you’re pissed off about something. Looking at the 6 threads you’ve started, you’ve gotten some useful answers and help. Looking at the 129 posts you’ve written, I don’t see where someone bashed you, told you to search for it, or to effoff…but they might from now on.

You must admit though…there is a lot of it in general though…

Cool screen cleaner BTW. I love concept to retail stories.

I do a lot of of dealerships , and I do a lot of storefronts. My dealerships that have bigger windows than regular store fronts glass , are not getting cleaned for the same price . Some dealerships have glass that is twice as big as storefront glass

I don’t do that with casements on resi though for the most part

Pricing will come down to how you have your business plan set up, a lot of the time it will be time based and do you currently have the equipment to do this job at a fast pace or would you have to purchase larger tools to do this type of work.
Is your target market dealerships and store front or residential and/or both, you will have to develop your own pricing structure that suits your needs for each market.
There is more than likely several window cleaning companies in your area who don’t use paper towels and 99c squeegees.
Personally I would rather clean bigger glass than smaller glass, and each pane would take about 30 seconds with a 30" sorbo so my pricing would not increase as it is very easily accessible and not overly large. if it were 20’ off the ground then yes the price would increase.

A big window to me is 10ft tall by 6 ft wide. You know, the ones that really stress you out when they go whawhomp if you put too much pressure on the middle of them. I’m getting around ten a piece but that barely covers the stress factor. I’ve learned which ones give in the middle so I don’t put too much pressure on them… I think Majestic66 is close on price. You might get 6 per…

Good grief.
I said I would treat it as a regular window, and that it looked like a normal window size.
And Steve and I both stated/agreed that we’d rather work on larger glass than smaller glass, either way.

What else is there to say about “Do You Price These As Single Or Double?!?”

As for the rest…
I went back and counted, I figure at least 9 people on this thread have saved someone…

 1. money
 2. their ass
 3. their job on MANY occasion.
 • so sorry it wasn’t in the last 24 hours

And cry all you want about "they make me do a search"
That’s nonsense, I’ve seen the same people answer multiple times, the same questions over and over, with no complaints.

I swear to god, there are times I do a search of MY OWN previous posts, and cut/paste it,
to answer someones question, that I remember answering before.

So don’t tell me that people aren’t helpful here, because that’s a flat out lie!

 • just because you may not realize it, ain’t the fault of those who do.

So stop being critical because we aren’t sitting here, listening to “on-hold music” waiting to help the next person.

Irony: people complain they are too busy to read through some banter.
But they expect us to answer immediately and directly when THEY have the time to ask a question.

Chop chop… I need answers… Like ASAP

Sometimes people ask for answers and when they get them put directly with no bull they get so offended.

Hey Zac, if new guys come on here to seek help from others, why would you bust mine and call me a BSer the other day when I responded to the thread about big house’s and whether you do in or out first ? If you don’t believe just ask or better yet don’t say nothing. I could tell J was only joking, but he did answer the question. Heck, I hate holding my laptop side ways to see a picture so what he said hopefully helps me.

Can’t we all just get alongg…
