Black awnings with Green mold and Lichen!

Wayne…your the man,thank you.
I will call the company who installed it tomm.want to make sure the bleach won’t turn it yellow.
Maybe you can tell me.
The awning im cleaning is a grey canvas. The bleach won’t hurt it Wayne?

I have never had a problem, but when in doubt do a compatibility check in an inconspicuous place on the awning fabric!

I’m assuming this is a canvas type awning? Sunbrella is the largest manufacture of this canvas awning fabric and recommends household bleach mixed with water to clean mold and mildew from their fabric. Check them out at sunbrella.com.

Here is a video I did several years ago on an awning that had lots of mold and mildew.

Hope this helps! Have a great day!

Thanks Wayne.I will try that.

What’s the matter, ya couldn’t of found some other color first?
Here’s a black one I did awhile back, before - after

Here’s red, both of these colors get hit hard by florida sun’s UV rays …
Both cleaned, sealed and treated w/ WINSOL awning care products.

Just winsol or did you mix sh too? I plan on starting awnings this spring

Awnings are nearly everywhere down here and are a big part of our add on’s.
I used some regular household bleach for the lace trim at the bottom, and then the
Winsol products I used are here http://winsol.com/awnclean.htm

There’s a good video on here you can watch as well, remember to have your customer sign an
Awning Cleaning Wavier … BEFORE you start.

Those awnings look amazing! Thank you for sharing.

WINSOL Deep Clean w/ Waterproof Sealant and a little bleach for the white bottom trim.
Good luck, plenty of good resource (info) here to be had.

SWW thanks, wow was what the homeowner said as well

Have you tried mixing sh with your winsol like some others, or do you just use winsol straight?

Can I ask a question? My question is this: (I am working with an ALL BLACK canvas awning) Can I use the 25% house hold bleach with 75% water and not “bleach” the awning?
or should I use the solution with “deep clean”, “sh” and water?
This is my 1st try doing this, I don’t want to bleach out the canvas and then be stuck purchasing a new one for the customer; please confirm. Thank you all very, very much!

What is SH?

I’ve tried to do awnings over the years, but the nationals killed the profits for commercial work. Plus the fact that Houston has a problem with permanent black stains on awnings that is uncleanable.

Sodium hypochlorite… It’s what’s in bleach
