Hey Blog readers. What started out as a few links & small stories over the last 3 years has turned into a different time consuming animal! Thanks for all your emails & gestures of appreciation by the way - it really has kept me going. Recently I told Chris that if i ain’t making money out of it by next year I would probably stop the updates, as it isn’t making the moolah for the time involved. What I need off you is a vote! If you would be willing to pay $1 a month for private access - would you pay? I need an honest opinion - as otherwise I have other interests I could be better putting my time in to (window cleaning related of course!).
If I stumbled on your blog I probably wouldn’t pay, but I would pay if you go that route since I “know” you (well i’ve seen you post 100 times 
) to help out
I would definitely pay, your site is in my top 5 favorites… I check it every single day. I also think its a real asset to the industry, the breaking news is always here first… + Its clear you put a tremendous amount of time into it.

Noticed there are 2 x I’d never pay already. Could you tell me your reasons? I don’t care that you said you wouldn’t pay, just would like to know why it’s of no interest. Or if you never go on the blog anyway? Perhaps I could turn it round to make you want to go to the blog?

I think your blog is very useful to the industry. I think you should be making some $ for you contribution.
That being said, I think you’ll have a hard time getting people to sign up for a subscription:
Not only that but if you go that route then you loose SEO power because all of the posts would have to be private. Your “new vistors” via google would go way down after a while. Consider this…
What if you put a little add on the side with a donate button, although some people wouldn’t pay $1/month. They may be more inclined to drop you a donation. You can word the donation “buy me a beer” or something like that. I’d drop a donation, and you’d probably end up getting more $ outta me that way to. It always makes people feel good to donate to a cause that they believe in but paying a monthly fee has negative feelings attached for most people.
I voted no, although if you had the donate button, I could see myelf clicking it for sure, you deserve it. Thanks for keeping us informed!

Thanks for that Doug - it’s worth mulling over. I did think about the SEO. But if you leave RSS on, I think the posts still go out, but when you arrive on the blog it says you need a password to enter. Never tried it so can’t be sure. I also know other people who have had similar donate buttons & didn’t get a sausage.
i like your blog but think you should write more on it about what happens to YOU , THE GOOD AND THE BAD , put in your feelings about being jaded with writing so much ,so this curries up sympathy .
Thanks Johnny, I don’t really want sympathy - I’d like someone to be happy to pay $1 a month, even if it meant changing certain things on the blog.
