Never thought that I was going to ask this here but, hey, here’s the place that I visit daily so why not .
My garage is cramped with crap, I just “finished” cleaning the stuff that I always keep “just in case” and is going to the Goodwill center tomorrow.
Now for the question … I want to move some stuff outside like my mower, weed eater and other garden things. There’s one side of my house where the AC unit is, and is very narrow so I wanted to build some sort or storage space there, no need to lock or nothing like that, just something really simple but needs to be made with materials that can withstand the weather. Around 4ft wide (distance between fence and wall) and 5ft tall maybe
What would you recommend me without spending a lot of money ? I don’t want to shell out $1k on a rubbermaid storage that sells at HD or lowes, but needs to keep the tools from the rain at least
A 2x4 frame wrapped in siding material?
Thanks in advance for reading other of my long and boring posts
My suggestion would be a simple lean to structure. Attach one side to the house slope the roof down about 1ft of length for every 4ft of drop and that should be adequate. I’d use steel sheeting for the roof and siding. It’s durable and covers quickly.
I agree on this one - a simple lean to structure would be adequate. Depending on where you live (weather wise) you could probably build on some compacted gravel - with treated lumber on the bottom. Slope the roof like a 6/12 pitch - you could shingle cheap enough, or use steel siding. For paneling I would recommend like a grooved plywood that would be easy to paint. I’m sure there are some good plans online to look at and get ideas. But for a narrow area, nothing beats a lean to.
Thanks for your input. I was reading last night and pretty much I got it figured out. Is going to be a free standing structure since I got some concrete deck footing that I bought and ended up not using it.
You can’t beat treated marine-ply & a couple of stake poles with a sloped roof. Personally I would build brick walls, framed lockable door, rendered walls & tiled roof. But that’s just me.
