Ok guys I’m just starting my business and need some input. I am trying to come up with a business name and am having a some difficulty. I have been brainstorming with the key windowcleaning words…clean, clear, crystal, beautiful, shine…etc. and am just not enamored with any of those words. I guess my question is do any of your company names not have anything to do with windowcleaning? As an example…Purple Cow Window Cleaning…with your logo being purple cow spots (just started reading the book btw). Does this work or is it better to stick with the norm? Thanks for the replies!!
Touch of Glass
window cleaning
Window pepers
where are u located?
Window Gods
"If you don’t like our work, you’re stupid"
Hey Troy! Whatever you do make sure the name isn’t so obscure that people have no idea what service you are offering. Having “cleaning” or “windows” in the name is one way to avoid confusion for the customer.
Lord knows they can confuse easily. A guy I know who does tinting was called back after doing the job and the client wanted 2 know why the outsides of the windows were dirty?
If I had too do it all over again, I would us my first and last name followed by window cleaning or what ever.
Wipe Your Glass Window Cleaning???
Im in Omaha, Nebraska. On the border of Iowa and Nebraska.
Thanks Tony! Looks like I got over to your place just in the nick of time before all the snow hit!!! BTW, I have been practicing with those slayer channels you gave me and they are sweet! Thanks again!
hmm, I like the purple cow thing and I’ll tell you why.
Sometimes being contrarian (going left while everyone
else goes right) can create interest.
It is like Fish Window Cleaning. Let’s put aside Fish
the company and notice how, if scanning a yellow
pages you would stop- “fish?, what the hell does
fish have to do with window cleaning?”
You are thinking you need to answer the “why”, you
don’t as that is not what you are promising.
I am ANTI the typical ambiguous names that all
blend together. Squeaky clean, crystal clean, etc…
Purple Cow Window Cleaning re-boots the senses
as it does not make sense. How many window cleaning
company names get attention? If your name can
draw attention on it’s own, that’s powerful.
That said, a company name like "We Wash Windows"
is excellent because it is a descriptive statement.
The name is an ad
I would do the purple cow thing. Go against the grain
and you will stand out. That’s half the battle
That’s why I chose “Metropolis”.
There’s a dozen “Crystal Clear” window cleaning and a million “Clear View”…no offense to anyone on the forum here.
I just wanted a name that was different.
But, if I were doing it over again, I might choose a name that begins with “A”, so I could be tops in the phone book.
Be THANKFUL you did not force a dumb A name in there. The
yellow pages is in cardiac arrest. “a” does not matter if 70%
of people search using the internet.
Forget “a”
Just giving my opinion here but whatever you do, don’t make “Window Cleaning” a part of your actual name. You need your company name to encompass an umbrella of services so you are not stuck to doing window cleaning only. Let’s say sometime in the future you add carpet cleaning. If your name is “Dan’s Window Cleaning”, your not going to be as fluid as you could in presenting carpet cleaning. Our name is “Wall 2 Wall Cleaning Service”, we do window cleaning, gutter cleaning, house cleaning, office cleaning…etc. We only have one tax ID and one legal name. What you want to do is say what you do in a tag line. So for instance “Purple Cow”…(tagline below) Window Cleaning, Gutter Cleaning…etc…Your actual company name would be “Purple Cow”, but your tag lines are however you want them for whatever specific services you are advertising at that moment.
Purple Cow (Legal Name)
(taglines) Window Cleaning, Gutter Cleaning and More
Or something to that affect
