Call it what?

Hi Everyone. My bucket Bob phase is almost over, I hope. And I’m working like hell to keep it in the rear view. I’ve got my insurance and even though I’m still not llc’d yet, I sent out my first bid for a 25 store chain today. I’m getting to the question hang on. My two part carbonless receipts say Wills window washing. I know I know. Anyway I went to looking at wills window cleaning and some guy in Colorado has that. I’ve been advised to not use my name at all because it is too small timey. Now I’m stuck. I don’t want you guys to name my business for me but Maybe you could share how or where you came up with your names and why they fit you I guess is what I’m asking.

What? Thanks for the reply. I guess that helps?

Do you plan on specializing in window cleaning? Or will you spread the attention evenly over multiple services?

Yes Chris for now just Windows. Maybe i was too long winded in my op, I was asking what types of things inspired your business names so I might be able to find my own unique meaningful to me name for mine.

What do you do or offer the potential client that is unique to how you feel about what you do? I know, long question, but close your eyes and let your imagination run the gamut.

That’s exactly what the other thread is about

I’ll just go back to trolling nevermind.

Are you in Colorado? If not, it doesn’t matter. But I think your name is actually quite fitting but I’d drop the s and go with “Will Window Washing” or “Will Window Cleaning.” Or WWC or WWW but the www might be hard to get with the whole internet thing.

Oh! Steal from apple: iWill Window Washing. Bam, solid gold baby.

To throw another spin on things: you can call it whatever you like, your company name can be different than your “doing business as” name.

As far as inspiration, go with what inspires you. If you like rap, call it D’Shiznit Window Cleaning, if you like Johnny Cash, call it “4 Feet and Rising Window Cleaning” if you like grunge call it “Nirvana Window Cleaning.” If you live near the Rocky Mountains, call it Mountain Top Window Cleaning or whatever.

Find something that inspires you and decide whether or not it sounds professional and appealing to women ages 40-80.

The other thread was about services offered vs name. This one is more about what inspired the name you chose. Two entirely and completely different species of thread. The family of topic and genus of subject might be the same, but the species is COMPLETELY different.

I’m in the Midwest and it seemed like everyone always just called us by name. so 3 years we changed it to use our last name. but again, that’s pretty popular in the Midwest. We have John Deere’s corporate HQ in town, which provide probably 30% of our residential customers, and he has a famous saying about how he wouldn’t put his name on anything he wasn’t proud of.

That sentiment goes a long way here. So that’s part of what I tell people. I’m going to give you the best service I possibly can because my personal reputation is on the line. You better believe I care about the quality of the product.

I can definitely see the long-term wisdom in building a company larger than your name. But this has worked well for us (along with a nice, simple logo). There probably is no perdect solution, and as other guys have said: you can’t really go wrong. Just don’t make it anything too convoluted or vague.

Good job!

My company name is iQ Window Cleaning

Integrity + Quality = The intelligent choice.

For me… I needed a 15 second sale pitch. So I incorporated into my company name.

Plus… Really hard to write your email in a small spot and your email is:
Will@willswindowcleaning.com

Email is half a sentence long. Now think about your lettering on your vehicle. Are you going to have enough space?

Maybe you’re right. I just think my answer in the other thread settles BOTH topics PERFECTLY. :sunglasses:

Hmm - I would list Window Cleaning in the Name

Wills - Window Cleaning - is nice.

Are you talking about domain name ? Because if he has it then yes you stuck . Or your can call it something like wills window cleaning service . Com or wwc.com or the city you live in window cleaning . Com

But regardless, LLC names go by state and DBA goes by county . So I would look into still using that name in your state /county . Just just got to get creative in the domain name

[/quote] How about “Tell me about your Day Window Cleaning” or “No that doesn’t make your butt look big Windows and More”?

I thought of “beats begging window cleaning” but that has kind of limited growth potential. Seriously, I’m not going to put my name in there at all. I’ve got an idea but I’m going to go get the domain and then I’ll post it here, I’ve got a feeling someone would pay that 99 cents to troll me lol.
