Recently met a builder who wants me to do 4 or 5
Multimillion dollar houses for him. He’s very clean and has his houses cleaned half way through the building process and another at the end. But he wants the windows cleaned during the final clean. Every window has high quality film on them that’s very easy to remove. I’m wondering what are the best supplies for CCU, what chemicals do you guys recommend or a certain type of squeegee or razor, or mop. Most of these houses are all French panes.
Edit: this is not my first CCU, I’ve had lots of experience with them. Just looking for any way to become even more efficient
In what way? Bronze wool lasts longer, doesn’t rust after one use, and the particles that break off don’t fall down and rust on your clients’ window sills or the caulking of their glass wind walls
We have used denatured alcohol Titen celemnet off and fabric softener 1/3 each in spray bottle
Then water fed after its on for 15 mins up to 8 hours because we spray down all windows frist.
We also used a hot streamer in side. construction cleaning water fed pole - YouTube
It can last more than that. Depends on how gunky they get. Helped to avoid using razors on the enormous sliders that house had. I was impressed at how well it removed or loosened paint or even cement.
Make sure to try one window and time yourself. One that has seen alot of sun too. The last CCU I did the windows took just as long as normal because even though the plastic film came off, it left a little adhesive line on the edge of the film that looked like a scratch so I had to scrub each line…
Oh, and I prefer bronze wool for the previously mentioned reasons, and because it’s softer than steel so has a lower chance of scratching the glass.
I’ve used bronze wool, and it doesn’t seem to have the same scrubbing power as steel. But I will definitely be picking some up for these other jobs. After about a hour of use everything gets to messy with steel wool.
