Im looking to do about 5,000 postcards. Id like to know how to get this done as cheaply as possible.
Ive done some mailings beofre and paid about $1.00 per piece in the end. Including the postcard and postage.
How much would 5,000 cost ?

With these go to random prospective s? Or a data base you created, or repeats? What size are you looking to do?
Prospective customers in high income gated communities. Maybe 5x7 or bigger
$1/each is outrageous…
Personally, I like 8.5x5.5… they’re big but not so big that they get bent up when stuffed into the mailbox.
On my last mailing of 3000 8.5x3.5 I spent $1400 for everything… design, print, list, mail, and inkjet labeling.
I get my lists from Alesco data and paid $191 for 3000 leads. So, approx. $320 for 5000 leads. I chose home value, age range, zip code, and income.
I got my printing done through PrintPlace.com but had them price match Gotprint.com prices. Price for printing of 5000 costs $210. These are very top notch glossy front, full color 14pt postcards
PrintPlace also did my labeling, and ran my list. This costs $85 + 24/1000 pieces… so $205 for labeling 5000
Note: I really consider this worth it. Many people say it’s cheaper to print labels, but 5000 labels is a TON of ink and material and probably costs more not to mention it takes forever just to place them. The inkjet looks professional, and is quick and painless.
The design cost me $59. I used Bridget Gurtowsky, based locally. She did an excellent job and it took her maybe 1 day to complete.
Note: Bridget isn’t a web designer, and her website isn’t that great. But her print design work is awesome, and she never gets frustrated even when I change the same design 12 times.
And lastly there’s postage. I paid $848 to send my 3000 via standard mail. It took them 10 days to arrive, and they all arrived on the same day. This is $.28 a piece; or around $1400 total for postage
First class mail is an option and it’ll get there quicker, but if you’ve got the work scheduled I think it makes more sense to send more pieces slower, versus fewer faster. Only if you’re busy already.
Total for this comes out to: $2,065.00
So right around $0.42 / each. Beats $1!
Hope it helps, happy to give any other costs if you have questions.
I use gotprint for the printing and a local mailing house for the list, addressing and delivery to the post office.
The mailing house is awesome! They help me build a list of targeted prospects and then I simply drop the cards off to them.
It’s also great because I get their discounted bulk mail rate for the postage.
I’m sure there’s one in your area that can help you.
