When Kernmantle rope says it’s chemical resistant or is more chemical resistant what chemicals is it resistant too? We recently used a bunch of CC550 while doing rope work. We were careful to keep ropes as best we could away from the cc550 we were using. Is kernmantle rope resistant to cc550 exposure? thanks
It will be somewhat resistant to most chemicals that you can touch with your bare hands without any affect.
Just loosely daisy chain the ropes and throw them in the washing machine with about a teaspoon of light dish soap or a quarter cup of original oxyclean and you’ll get them nice and clean.
How effective are those (high-rise) rope washers I see for sale?
They are pretty good, get the kind that screws to the Tap thread, its eaiser to pull the rope through as its secure.
Inregards to chemical exposure to your ropes, always consult the manufacturer of your rope and let them decide on the effects of the chemical on the ropes you may have exposed, I always look at the MSDS sheet to see how bad the chemical is also to synthetic products.
Rope manufacturers test many, many different chemicals on their ropes and have a databsae of them all and the effects, better to be safe then sorry by playing the guessing game.
To wash the ropes, I use a front loading washer and the brand name Zero clothes wash liquid.
