We have a LOT of these in the new homes in our area.
Would you clean the exteriors from inside the home? Or would you use a pole or ladder and do the exteriors the old-fashioned way…from the outside?
Thanks.

For me it depends on how much stuff is in front of the window or how accessible the outs are. When I’m wfping I don’t bother tipping them in.
Well Randy, speaking only for myself, it depends. On ground level windows I usually cleam them from the outside. On higher levels, I clean them from the inside. Or if it would be hard to reach from the ground i.e. landscaping, location on the house ect…
This is something you have to see for yourself. Just remember, there’s no real RIGHT way to clean anything. Just smart and not so smart ways.
Hope this helps,
Todd
I ran into some of these again today and sometimes the screen can be tough to get out. If that is the case I just leave them in and clean them in place and tip all the windows in. Aside from the screen situation I like to leave them in place and clean them on the outside if it is ground level or if I will be on a ladder getting the top pane anyway.
One problem with tilting windows in is you increase your chances of something breaking. Do you know how to get the sash back in if it pops out and the pulley pulls it all the way up? There are just too many cheaply made to do it that way on any consistent basis. We do tilt in third floor or other hard to access windows but really try to keep it to a minimum.
customers seem to think that its easier for us to clean the outsides from the inside if they tilt in, i personally would rather clean the outs from the outside. i think we can do it quicker that way even w/ladders. Theres always exceptions, if its unsafe to access w/ladder,power lines, etc. I also think some customers think that the price should be lower if we are cleaning the outs from inside and not having to use a ladder, when in fact, it takes longer to do it that way.
+1
This time of year, though, air conditioning is a plenty valid excuse to tilt them things in
