I went wrong by scheduling 2 big houses today. I started at 6:00 this morning. Got done with the first house around 10:00. Then went to the second house. At 10:00 it was only 112 degrees. I should have stopped then.
I have done 110 a while back, but I don’t even know what it is like at 121. Take it easy.
Heat index here today was 110. I have a house scheduled for tomorrow morning (sunday wedding at 6 pm) and I know it will be miserable, plus we will have all the decorators, tent setups, landscapers and all those people to deal with.
107° high here yesterday (lower today I think; I was done on a resi by 1:00PM.) WFP exterior only on a 3-story commercial. Started at 7:00AM and stopped at 3:00PM. I couldn’t drink enough…
I can’t imagine working in 121° – and I’ve been to Death Valley three different times in Summer.
It does suck:p I remember last year when I first moved out here thinking the heat can’t be that bad. Boy, was I wrong! I was on clay tile roofs in the middle of the day with the temp. nearly 118 deg. This one house had really bad hardwater stains w/ these windows being only accessable by roof. I had to use steel wool and Titan A- 1 to remove the stains and everything was just drying too fast! Sweat dripping in my eyes and the sun feeling like someone has a blowtorch pointed directly in my face! I just couldn’t want to just get inside the house to do the insides. Being from Pennsylvania, I really do like the 4 seasons better. I would take working in the freezing cold over extreme heat any day of the week.
Here’s my reasoning on this. In the extreme cold you can at least drink some coffee to warm up. You can wear layers and take them off as the day goes on. And it feels just more comfortable when it is cold out. With the temps. over 110 deg. it just feels oppressive. And you actually should wear long sleeves in the heat and safari hats. It’s much safer despite what some people think.
For me the ideal temps would be 40 deg. to 80 deg. I love that weather! What the heck am I doing in Vegas:)
I wear a hat with a rim all around in the sun, but I haven’t really tried a long sleeve shirt although I know
it is better for protecting from the sun. A lifetime of working in the sun does damage.
I don’t know if I could get used the shirt. It seems it would be too hot.
Yeah Bailey I hear you it should cool down next week, I am in Redlands and scheduled two big houses one in Rancho and the other in Highland. But 121 did you go east?
It was hot today! It is 96 now and heat index is 107. I had a new customer call. They have a wedding today at 6pm. It is an older home with wood framed windows. they were pretty buggy and dirty, but they came out good.

I heard its the hottest summer on record here in NJ. I’ve been bringing 3 work shirts with me because of the salt lines left by sweat the past few weeks, looks horrid.
Remember… the pee test… the yellower the pee the more water you need.

I understand that the first 6 months of 2010 is the hottest year ever on record. Though the weather has been great up here, too much rain though.
Gambling? lol All of you can come to Minn in January and help with our commercial route. The Tempature is only around -20degrees.
Oh believe me, when I started in February and it was only 30-40 degrees it was LOVELY! I’d be out in a light sweater and t-shirt. Can’t wait til October.
Where I live near the California coast, it runs 70’s and 80’s in the summer. Winter is in the 50’s or 60’s.
The weather is not much of a problem so window cleaning runs all year around.

Nope. I have never gambled since being out here. SERIOUS. I recently hung out with a friend and watched as he blew a hundred dollars in less that 10 min. playing blackjack. Never saw the point in blowing money like that. I moved out here to start a window cleaning business with my sister. That was the plan anyway.
