i once saw a vid where mops were washed out using a pressure washer. they came up far cleaner than machine washing

I hit mine once in a while if in the middle of a pressure washing job and they do come out nice. One thing I noticed is it wears them out a little faster though.

I noticed that a high pressure hose tip (not pressure washer) is useful to spray them off prior to washing, I never dry them. By spraying first removes much dirt and come out of washer fluffier than if not pre sprayed.

Commercially you don’t get as long of life out of sleeves as the frames will blow your ends faster than residential.

must be something different about the frames or the conditions generally in the states then. iv often read about the mop ends wearing out in the states. iv not ever worn a mop out and some of my mops are now 9 yrs old and still in use

Hose rinse, machine wash, hang dry (draping them over my cleaning bucket overnight gets them dry).

Putting them in the dryer tends to shrink and wear them out faster.

i haven’t blown out an end yet too in 2 years

I blow out ends all the freakin time. I get one season and the ends are completely worn through. I’m cleaning a crap load of commercial aluminum frames windows though. Pulex loves me!

I just can’t find the time to drape mine out to dry. Some nights I get home at 8 pm and need fresh clean and dry mops by 530. I go through dryers like a laundry mat!

how many mops do you guys own? i suppose the more you own the longer they last ,but is that true i mean whats the difference to owning only 1 it lasts say 1 year so after 5 yrs youv bought 5 or is it better to buy 5 when you first start out and use them weekly in rotation. daft question!

i bought a real haul when i first started for no good reason other than i liked ordering stuff online when i was bored. i think i own about 30 mostly SYR tiger blue n white which is the real underdog of sleeves a real dripper too ,but has great fibres that lift dirt well. one time i received my order and theyd sent a different sleeve as were out of stock, i called up to complain and was told"why do you want that sleeve nobody else wants it "

In my truck I carry easily 12, mixed between new and used clean sleeves. My employees generally change as they start to stink after a few days. A typical sleeve lasts us maybe a month, ends wear or blow.

Ill try to post a video showing the style of frames we deal with and see how it differs from others who last years.

Jonnyald, if your sleeve last so long how long for rubbers? We go thru a few a day

rubbers [wagtail] last us 2weeks. for a long while we were using Moerman rubber,a budget rubber i was buying the bulk packs.Anyway each rubber lasted about 4 or 5 days. wev never got into the habit of flipping a rubber im not sure why that is i realize its wasteful - but once a rubbers pulled out its thrown into back of the van.

iv one of those [pulex abrasive] but dont you think the abrasive bit is stitched on a tad too low ? i was once thinking of unpicking the threads and reattaching it so it was nearer the top edge -till i realized it had been stitched on mega-well

Yes. It’s definately stitched too low. Unfortunately I have to man handle the thing into place to get a good scrubbin!

Why do they need to be dry? Just curious. If mine are still damp, I just leave them out in the open in the vehicle. And at least one of them will be going straight into my bucket, anyway.

I know that dryer sheets are a know but what about Sunlight soap? Are there any that may wear out/ cause a film to appear?
