Coastal Windows

For windows on the beach with a build-up of salt, are there any best practices or tips for removing the build-up that tends to be stubborn? This would be without a wfp. Thanks.

Hey there Dave,

Say I lived right on the coast in SoCal, cleaning upgrade houses right on the coast line ! Never had any trouble scrubbing the salt aired windows off ! If you do use a boar hair ! Plus use a Natiural Sea Sponge to help wipe the edges before squeegeeing, it also picks up the water really well !

I just use the typical stuff that I use on every job, Dawn dish soap, a white soft scrubber pad, and washing over them at least twice.

Thanks to both of you. Have some coming up and was worried that salt build-up would pose a problem, maybe along the lines of hardwater, etc.

I was going to post a similar question, thanks for beating me to it

Since we were in the NE quadrant of Sandy, Im now washing dried sea-foam off of windows 30+ miles inland!

Try some liquid oven and grill cleaner in your water. Not the foam but restaurant oven and grill cleaner. Just a little goes a long way. Great on Windows, horrible on your hands. I don’t head to the jersey shore without any. Be careful.

Not good…Horrible on your hands plus it sinks into your pores and flows to your liver, gallbladder, kidneys, not good !

Plus work with warm water ! It shouldn’t be hard to move !

Guess my health is in trouble, been using OC for 25 years.

It just might be…Lets hope not !

Cigarette smokin can take years but eventually it will kill someone ! Drug use works the same…Just cleaning stuff from salt water air is easy and not in need of chemicals.
