Commercial chemical degreaser Stained glass

Hi guys,

I was degreasing/pressure washing an area down town where homeless urinate. The degreaser got on the lower shop front windows and burnt/stained the glass white, (white chalky).
Really not sure what to do!

Can this be restored with out having to replace the windows ? If so, what method can be use to fix it?

Kind Regards,

What degreaser were you using? It is possible for sodium hydroxide to react with the silicon dioxide in glass and that will form sodium silicate… an acid wash in normally required to neutralize/ stop the reaction (vinegar will work). After that you may be able to polish the white out of the glass.

Company called active chemical (action 248)
Cheers, I will try that.
