Compare non-WFP extension poles

What are you using, and why, for extension pole either Storefront or Residential?

Unger 8 ft Optilock to 30 ft Teleplus. Easy to lock and unlock tools with the button, mostly replaceable parts, pretty durable. Much better than the DIY versions at Home Depot and Lowes. Only thing is, they like to run away from new employees

All my poles are carbon fiber now, Trad and WFP, I will never go back to aluminum.

12’ Carbon fiber trad poles can get me through almost all residential and storefront work that I would be using a pole on.

I have used the Unger brand from Home Depot, 12 foot pole. It is my go-to pole. I also use a 24 foot Garelick pole. That is for the 2nd story or above-- (both of these can be converted to a WFP with a SIMPLE 7-10 dollar ACMRE to EURO adapter-- food for thought.)

The Garelick 24foot pole is heavy fully extended-- I am just so used to using it that it doesn’t bother me-- but there is a big difference between a 12 foot and 24 foot pole-- The Garelick the ONLY drawback is…those interlocking rings that you turn to tighten the pole end up breaking. This is usually after a few years of HARD, daily use though— and it’s 52 dollars for a brand new one— lol so not a big deal.

I had an 8ft opti lock but lost it. Really liking the wcr trad pole. Very versatile, easy to switch between unger/ettore tips. Super light and rigid.

Awesome. What your line up? We’re interested in going all CF after using them several times instead of aluminum.

Unger Nlight Aluminum is the only thing outside of carbon fiber that we’ve used that doesn’t slip in - 30 degree temperature.

I have both the Legend 8 foot and 12 foot. The 8 foot gets me through 90% of my route work, and i use the 12 when needed:

I also have this 32’ Gardiner CLX with an adpater and a trad tip:

With this acme thread adapter you can add a wood cone tip:

Or I use this nylon tip if I want to screw on web dusters for example:

Dan, great information. I don’t know if we can talk about “that” supplier on this website, but I find they have some really good niche products on there, same with “the window cleaning store”.

Garelick poles all day. Can’t stand using any pole with a cone that gets In the way. Plus these poles are super light .

Using Garelick has got to be about saving $$ only. There is no way anyone owns a cf Trad pole, and actually prefers aluminum. Imo

Gotta disagree with ya @DanTheWindowMan, I started with Garelick, switched to CF after seeing the popularity on this forum, and found I was reaching for the Garelick for trad work more often than not. (Up to two stories that is, anything over that and the Garelick gets “noodly”)

The difference, as @Majestic66 points out in the absence of a cone or knuckle. They’re smooth from top to bottom and so slide in your hands when raising and lowering.
Where as with CF and other trad poles, you have to hand over hand it; I find it slower and cumbersome. Garelicks are also fairly light in my opinion; not CF light, but at two stories it’s nothing. And of course, the price is great as well.

Again though, it does depend on the job and for me CF absolutely has its merits and a place at my trad table too.

Well that Xero trad, unfortunately, has ruined it for me and my extension poles. So dang good…but not cheap either. ~Jersey 862-312-2026 https://windowcleaner.com/xero-carbon-fiber-trad-pole-2-0?pt=JJ

I love my Zero poles for higher trad cleaning, but three weeks ago I got the 12’ Moermon Carbonator. I love it. Extending and closing is fast. It never spins. It is compact for tight spots and still extends to 12’ allowing me to do over 95% of my non WFP work.

All residentiaI, mostly use a Simpole trad pole. 3 sections, about 15’. It’s a good high-mod cf pole. Anything higher than that I wfp or ladder because my pole skills suck, though the Moerman tools have helped a lot. I also have a couple of 8’ Ettore aluminum, one of which I just put an Unger tip on because it holds the Moerman handles better.

Hey Gordy, tell me what I need to know about getting this pole for trad work. Adapters? Or good as is?

That’s what I use , garlick poles . 8 , 12 and a 24 that hardly ever gets used . I like the inner locking system they have . Mostly use the 8 footer , make sure you get them in 3 or 4 sections
